Chelsea Brandwood
Chelsea Brandwood is a Canadian curler from St. Catharines, Ontario. She currently skips a team on the World Curling Tour. Her hometown is Beamsville, Ontario. Career Youth Brandwood's first provincial title came at the women's bantam championship in 2012. Brandwood won the Ontario Junior women's championship in 2015, with teammates Claire Greenlees, Brenda Holloway and Danielle Greenlees. The team represented Ontario at the 2015 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. Brandwood led her rink to a 7-3 record, after the round robin tournament. In the playoffs, she beat British Columbia's Corryn Brown team, before losing in the final to Alberta's Kelsey Rocque. In university curling, Brandwood played for the Laurier Golden Hawks, where she won three straight provincial (OUA) titles from 2014 to 2016, but came up short in 2017, her fourth year of eligibility. Curling
Curling is a sport in which players slide stones on a sheet of ice toward a target area which is segmented into four concentric circles. It is related to bowls, boules, and shuffleboard. Two teams, each with four players, take turns sliding heavy, polished granite stones, also called ''rocks'', across the ice ''curling sheet'' toward the ''house'', a circular target marked on the ice. Each team has eight stones, with each player throwing two. The purpose is to accumulate the highest score for a ''game''; points are scored for the stones resting closest to the centre of the house at the conclusion of each ''end'', which is completed when both teams have thrown all of their stones once. Wilfrid Laurier University Alumni
Wilfrid ( – 709 or 710) was an English bishop and saint. Born a Northumbrian noble, he entered religious life as a teenager and studied at Lindisfarne, at Canterbury, in Francia, and at Rome; he returned to Northumbria in about 660, and became the abbot of a newly founded monastery at Ripon. In 664 Wilfrid acted as spokesman for the Roman position at the Synod of Whitby, and became famous for his speech advocating that the Roman method for calculating the date of Easter should be adopted. 2023 Ontario Scotties Tournament Of Hearts
The 2023 Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the provincial women's curling championship for Southern Ontario, was held from January 23 to 29 at The Plex in Port Elgin, Ontario. The winning Rachel Homan rink represented Ontario at the 2023 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, Canada's national women's curling championship in Kamloops, British Columbia where they made the Championship round losing to Nova Scotia 7–6 in an extra end. The event was held in conjunction with the 2023 Ontario Tankard, the provincial men's curling championship. Both events are held together in non-Olympic years. The 2020 Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the provincial women's curling championship for Southern Ontario, was held from January 27 to February 1 at the Ed Lumley Arena in Cornwall, Ontario. The winning Rachel Homan rink represented Ontario at the 2020 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and lost the gold medal final to Manitoba. The event was held in conjunction with the 2020 Ontario Tankard, the men's provincial championship. Rachel Homan's rink from the Ottawa Curling Club completed their perfect undefeated run when they defeated Hollie Duncan's rink from the Royal Canadian Curling Club 7–6. The 2019 Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the provincial women's curling championship for Southern Ontario, was held January 28 to February 2 at the Woolwich Memorial Centre in Elmira, Ontario. The winning team of skip Rachel Homan, third Emma Miskew, second Joanne Courtney and lead Lisa Weagle represented Ontario at the 2019 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Sydney, Nova Scotia, finishing second. Homan defeated Julie Tippin in the final with a final score of 7-5. The event was held in conjunction with the 2019 Ontario Tankard, the men's provincial championship. Gim Un-chi
Gim Eun-ji also known as Gim Un-chi (born January 23, 1990) is a Korean curler from Gyeonggi-do. She currently skips the Gyeonggi Province curling team. Career Gim played as lead in her first world championship at the 2011 Capital One World Women's Curling Championship along with skip Kim Ji-sun. The team struggled finishing in last place with a 2–9 record. At the 2012 World Women's Curling Championship, South Korea made history by making the playoffs for the first time with a 8–3 record. They defeated Canada to advance to the semifinal, but lost a close game against eventual champions Switzerland. They then lost another close game to the Canadians in the bronze medal game, finishing in fourth place.
