Richard Anthony "Cheech" Marin (born July 13, 1946) is an American actor, musician, comedian, and activist who gained recognition as part of the comedy act Cheech & Chong during the 1970s and early 1980s with Tommy Chong and as Don Johnson's partner, Insp. Joe Dominguez, on ''Nash Bridges''. ''Cheech'' is a 2006 Canadian comedy-drama film directed by Patrice Sauvé (his feature film directorial debut) and written by François Létourneau, based on his own prior stage play ''Cheech, ou Les hommes de Chrysler sont en ville''. The film showed at the 2006 Toronto International Film Festival. Plot Ron runs an escort service in a rundown part of Montreal. His murder leads to suspicion of a number of suspects. They include Cheech, the rival escort agency owner, and Stephanie, a prostitute who wants to leave the business. Cheech Wizard
Cheech Wizard is an American underground comics character created by artist Vaughn Bodē. Vaughn created Cheech Wizard on September 26, 1957, at the age of 15. He drew a hat with stars on it with legs sprouting out from beneath the oversized hat. Vaughn spotted a can of Cheechie Nuts on his kitchen table and coined the characters name Cheech Wizard. In 1964 Vaughn furthered the character and did an unpublished strip in his journal. In 1967 Cheech appeared in a small self-published black and white comic. The Collected Cheech Wizard was published as a comic by Company and Sons in 1972 (2nd Printing 1976). In 1973, Last Gasp publishers issued the new comic ''Cheech Wizard Suck my Turnip''. From 1972 to 1975 the strips also appeared in '' National Lampoon''. The Cheech Marin Center For Chicano Art, Culture & Industry
The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art, Culture & Industry of the Riverside Art Museum, or The Cheech, is an art museum and academic center in Riverside, California, United States. The center will focus on the presentation and study of chicano art from across the United States. It is a collaborative effort between stand-up comedian, actor, and writer Cheech Marin, who will donate his collection of more than 700 pieces of Chicano art, the City of Riverside, which will provide the facilities to house the collection, and the Riverside Art Museum, which will manage the center. The collection will be housed in the old Riverside public library, and when complete, the center is expected to be a world-class institution to research and study "all things elated toChicano art".
