Chee-Chee And Peppy
Chee-Chee and Peppy were an American R&B teen vocal duo who recorded in the early 1970s and had a US Hot 100 hit with "I Know I'm In Love". The duo comprised Dorothy "Dottie" Moore (born 1959, Norristown, Pennsylvania) and Keith Bolling (born 1957, Frankford, Pennsylvania). Moore, then aged 12, was discovered by record producer and songwriter Jesse James when he was asked to speak to local children at her school. She sang and danced at the event, and James later got agreement from her mother to form a duo around her. Keith Bolling was the son of Sam Cooke and a member of Frankford High School's Ambassadors of Song, and under James' direction a duo was formed. Frank Alphonse "Chee-Chee" DeMayo (born Franco DeMaio) (April 6, 1885 in Italy – August 2, 1949 in Kansas City) was a Kansas City, Missouri mobster who became the crime boss of the Kansas City crime family during the later years of Prohibition. Bootlegging Little is known of DeMayo's early involvement in organized crime. By 1927, DeMayo was running the Kansas City criminal organization. The Kansas City gang, like other criminal organizations around the country, gained immense wealth and power during Prohibition by bootlegging alcohol. Unlike New York and Chicago, which were wracked by bloody gang wars during this period, the criminal gangs in Missouri had managed to cooperate and avoid bloodshed. Benjamin Chee Chee
Kenneth Thomas Chee Chee (26 March 1944 – 14 March 1977), known as Benjamin Chee Chee, was an Ojibwa Canadian artist born in Temagami, Ontario. Early life Chee Chee's early life was troubled and he lost track of his mother, for whom he spent many years searching. He moved to Montreal in 1965 where he developed his love of drawing, and moved back to Ottawa in 1973. ] Career Chee Chee's first exhibition was held in 1973 at the University of Ottawa. Soon after he gained fame as he developed his unique style of clear graceful lines and minimal colour, depicting birds and animals. Though his art featured a great deal of iconography often used by Canadian First Nations artists, Chee Chee had denied his art had symbolic meaning. He instead referred to the animals featured in his art as "creatures of the present". ''Chee-Chee'' is a musical by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart based on the 1927 book, ''The Son of the Grand Eunuch'', by Charles Pettit. ''Chee-Chee'' opened on Broadway September 25, 1928, and the show closed after 31 performances. In 1963 vocalist Betty Comden released an album that included some of the songs from the musical. Synopsis In 1928 Herbert Fields wrote a libretto based on Pettit's book in which the son of the Grand Eunuch, Li-Pi, and his wife, Chee-Chee, are forced into exile when the Grand Eunuch announces his plan for Li-Pi to become a eunuch and take his father's place as the Grand Eunuch. Chee-Chee is captured and rescued, and Li-Pi is captured and rescued, and finally the musical ends happily.
