Check To The Queen
''Scacco alla regina'', internationally released as ''Check to the Queen'', is a 1969 Italian comedy film directed by Pasquale Festa Campanile. It is based on the novel ''The Slave'' by Renato Ghiotto. Plot Margaret Mevin is an arrogant famous actress, accustomed to being served and revered by the people whom she surrounds herself. Silvia comes to her service as a lady companion, but her submissive role soon acquires masochistic traits and homosexual shades. Pasquale Festa Campanile (28 July 1927 – 25 February 1986) was an Italian screenwriter, film director and novelist, best known as a prominent exponent of the commedia all'italiana genre. Life and career Born at Melfi, in the province of Potenza, he moved to Rome at young age. He started as a writer and literary critic. ''La nonna Sabella'', one of his novels, was later adapted by Dino Risi into the movie of the same name, internationally known as ''Oh! Sabella'' (1957). He began his cinema career as a screenwriter with ''Faddija – La legge della vendetta'' (1949) by Roberto Bianchi Montero and later co-produced masterpieces of Italian cinema such as ''Poveri ma belli'' (1957) by Risi and ''Rocco and His Brothers'' (1960) and ''The Leopard (1963 film), The Leopard'' (1963) by Luchino Visconti. Gabriele Tinti (22 August 1932 – 12 November 1991) was an Italian actor who was married to actress and model Laura Gemser. Biography Tinti was born in Molinella, Emilia-Romagna. He started his career in the 1948 movie ''Difficult Years'', and eventually got his first major starring role in the 1954 movie ''Chronicle of Poor Lovers''. Aldo Giuffrè (10 April 1924 – 26 June 2010) was an Italian film actor and comedian who appeared in over 90 films between 1948 and 2001. He was born in Naples and was the brother of actor Carlo Giuffrè. He is known for his roles in '' The Four Days of Naples'', and as the alcoholic Captain Clinton of the Union Army in the Sergio Leone film ''The Good, the Bad and the Ugly'' in 1966. Romolo Valli (7 February 1925 – 1 February 1980) was an Italian actor. Valli was born in Reggio Emilia. He was one of the best known Italian actors from the 1950s to his death.
