Chartthaipattana Party
The Chartthaipattana Party ( th, พรรคชาติไทยพัฒนา ''Phak Chat Thai Phatthana'', (CP) ''Thai Nation Development Party'') was founded on 18 April 2008, in anticipation of the 2 December 2008, Constitutional Court of Thailand ruling which dissolved the Chart Thai Party and banned its executive members from participating in politics for five years beginning on that date. Numerous former members of the Chart Thai Party joined the Chart Thai Patthana Party; therefore, the Chart Thai Pattana party is its ''de facto'' successor. The party has a strong base in Suphan Buri Province. The first party's leader was Chumpol Silpa-archa, the younger brother of former Prime Minister Banharn Silpa-archa, who has been banned from politics by the Constitutional Court. The Democrat Party ( th, พรรคประชาธิปัตย์; ) is a Thai political party. The oldest party in Thailand, it was founded as a royalist party, and now upholds a conservative and pro-market position. Kanchana Silpa-archa ( th, กัญจนา ศิลปอาชา, ; born 15 February 1960) is a Thai politician who is currently serving as the leader of the Chartthaipattana Party. The Pheu Thai Party (PTP; th, พรรคเพื่อไทย, lit=For Thais Party, , ) is the third incarnation of a Thai political party founded by former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra. 2011 Thai General Election
General elections were held in Thailand on 3 July 2011 to elect the 24th House of Representatives. The protestors of the United Front for Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD) or " Red Shirts" who occupied downtown Bangkok in April and May 2010 had demanded new elections. The government's counter-proposal to hold elections on 14 November 2010 was rejected by them and was followed by a violent crackdown when the protestors refused to disperse. Sanan Kachornprasart ( th, สนั่น ขจรประศาสน์, , ; born 7 September 1935 – 15 February 2013) was a Thai politician and military officer (Major General). He was deputy prime minister in the cabinet of Abhisit Vejjajiva, and was chief advisor of Chartthaipattana Party. Early life and military service Sanan Kachornprasart was born in Pho Thale, Phichit. He graduated from Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy and United States Army Armor School, at Fort Knox, Kentucky.
