Charmer (Aimee Mann Album)
''Charmer'' is the eighth studio album by singer-songwriter Aimee Mann, released by SuperEgo Records in the UK on September 17, 2012, and in the US on September 18. The album was produced by Mann's bassist, Paul Bryan (musician), Paul Bryan, and features a guest appearance by The Shins frontman James Mercer (musician), James Mercer, who duets with Mann on the track "Living a Lie." It debuted on the Billboard 200, ''Billboard'' 200 at No. 33. Laura Linney and John Hodgman star in the music video for the first single, "Charmer." The video for the second single, "Labrador," is a shot-for-shot remake of the video for "Voices Carry (song), Voices Carry," the 1985 hit of Mann's former band, 'Til Tuesday, with the exception of The Town Hall (New York City), Town Hall replacing Carnegie Hall. Aimee Mann
Aimee Elizabeth Mann (born September 8, 1960) is an American singer-songwriter. Over the course of four decades, she has released more than a dozen albums as a solo artist and with other musicians. She is noted for her sardonic and literate lyrics about dark subjects. Her work with the producer Jon Brion in the 1990s was influential on American alternative music. Mann was born in Richmond, Virginia, and studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. In the 1980s, after playing with the Young Snakes and Ministry, she co-founded the new wave band 'Til Tuesday and wrote their top-ten single " Voices Carry" (1985). 'Til Tuesday released three albums and disbanded in 1990 when Mann left to pursue a solo career. Mann released her first solo album, '' Whatever'', in 1993, followed by '' I'm With Stupid'' in 1995. For each product, the scores from each review are averaged (a weighted arithmetic mean, weighted average). Metacritic was created by Jason Dietz, Marc Doyle, and Julie Doyle Roberts in 1999.
