__NOTOC__ Charlotte Ganahl Walker (December 20, 1876March 23, 1958) was a Broadway theater actress. Early life Charlotte Ganahl Walker was born on December 20, 1876, in Galveston, Texas to Edwin A. Walker (1849–1889) and Charlisa (De Ganahl) Walker (1855–1934). Stage actress Walker made her stage debut as a teen in 1893. At nineteen 1895 she performed in London, England in a comedy called ''The Mummy'' and in the same year performed with Richard Mansfield. Later, she returned to her native Texas after marrying and had two children. In 1900, she made her Broadway debut in ''Miss Prinnt''. She returned to the stage in 1901 and appeared with James A. Herne. She was a leading lady with James K. Hackett from 1901 to 1905. In 1907 she appeared in the Broadway hit ''The Warrens of Virginia'' whose cast also had Gladys Smith (later Mary Pickford) and Cecil B. DeMille. ''Out of the Darkness'' is a 1915 American drama silent film directed by George Melford and written by Hector Turnbull. The film stars Charlotte Walker, Thomas Meighan, Marjorie Daw, Hal Clements, Tom Forman and Loyola O'Connor. The film was released on September 9, 1915, by Paramount Pictures. Plot The owner of a large cannery (Charlotte Walker) employs many women and children in horrible working conditions. She refuses to see the manager (Thomas Meighan) who wants to try to get better conditions for the employees. She hits her head and ends up forgetting who she is. She ends up working at the cannery with the manager (who doesn't recognize her). The workers finally revolt and tie up the manager in a burning factory and the owner, who fell in love with him, suddenly remembers everything because of the shock of the situation. The Trail of the Lonesome Pine is a 1908 romance novel/western novel written by John Fox, Jr. The novel became Fox's most successful, and was included among the top ten list of bestselling novels for 1908 and 1909. Plot summary Set in the Appalachian Mountains at the turn of the twentieth century, a feud has been boiling for over thirty years between two influential mountain families, the Tollivers and the Falins. A playwright or dramatist is a person who writes plays. Etymology The word "play" is from Middle English pleye, from Old English plæġ, pleġa, plæġa ("play, exercise; sport, game; drama, applause"). The word "wright" is an archaic English term for a craftsman or builder (as in a wheelwright or cartwright). The words combine to indicate a person who has "wrought" words, themes, and other elements into a dramatic form—a play. (The homophone with "write" is coincidental.) ''Salvation Nell'' is a 1931 American Pre-Code drama film produced and directed by James Cruze and distributed by Tiffany Films, a company then on the brink of ceasing operations. The film is based on Edward Sheldon's 1908 Broadway play which starred Minnie Maddern Fiske and Holbrook Blinn. Two silent versions were produced: in 1915 with Beatriz Michelena and in 1921 with Pauline Starke. Ralph Graves and Helen Chandler star in this film. Actor Matthew Betz appeared in both this film and the 1921 silent film. After years of being thought a lost film, a print was shown at a film festival in 2001. Plot Young Nell (Chandler) loses her job and home and her father is sent to prison. Béla Ferenc Dezső Blaskó (; October 20, 1882 – August 16, 1956), known professionally as Bela Lugosi (; ), was a Hungarian and American actor best remembered for portraying Count Dracula in the 1931 horror classic ''Dracula'', Ygor in ''Son of Frankenstein'' (1939) and his roles in many other horror films from 1931 through 1956.
