Charlotte McArdle
Charlotte McArdle is the Chief Nursing Officer for Northern Ireland. She began her nursing training at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin in 1988, qualifying in 1991. Her career has seen her work in both the Irish Republic and Northern Ireland. The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) is the most senior advisor on nursing matters in a government. Beaumont Hospital, Dublin
Beaumont Hospital ( ga, Ospidéal Beaumont) is a large teaching hospital located in Beaumont, Dublin, Ireland. It is managed by RCSI Hospitals - one of the hospital groups established by the Health Service Executive. Its academic partner is the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. St. Joseph's Hospital (Raheny) is also under the management of the Beaumont Hospital Board. History The planning for the hospital, which was commissioned to replace the Richmond Surgical Hospital and the Jervis Street Hospital began in 1977. The design was based on the scheme for the Cork University Hospital. It was built at a cost of €52.7 million and was officially opened on 29 November 1987. The COVID-19 pandemic reached Northern Ireland in February 2020. The Department of Health reports 3,445 deaths overall among people who had recently tested positive. The Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency reports 5,029 where the death certificate mentioned COVID as one possible cause (see Statistics). Northern Ireland has the lowest COVID death rate per population in the United Kingdom. The vast majority of deaths have been among those over the age of 60 and almost half were in care homes. According to figures, about 1 in 9 of over 5,000 who have passed have been under 65. On 23 March 2020, Northern Ireland went into lockdown with the rest of the UK. A stay-at-home order banned "non-essential" travel and contact with others, and schools, businesses, venues, amenities and places of worship were shut.
