Charlie Utting
Charles Utting (12 March 1923 – 11 October 2009) was an Australian rules footballer who debuted for Collingwood at the age of 20 in 1943. His career goal total was 17 from 125 games over 8 seasons. He was vice-captain and won the Copeland Trophy in 1950, his final season as he retired at only 27 years of age because of his involvement in his family's business. Utting went on to coach the Collingwood Seconds from 1951 to 1953, was a member of the committee from 1968 to 1975, and was a Collingwood life member. Collingwood, Victoria
Collingwood is an inner-city suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 3km north-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Yarra local government area. Collingwood recorded a population of 9,179 at the 2021 census. Copeland Trophy
The E.W. Copeland Trophy is an Australian rules football award given by the Collingwood Football Club to the player adjudged best and fairest for Collingwood during the year. The Copeland Shield, as it was formerly known, was donated by Ern Copeland, the secretary who came to the club in 1895 and led the club through the 1890s depression, saving it from financial ruin. He remained an employee of Collingwood for 29 years, finally retiring in 1924. The trophy was unveiled in 1932, with the best and fairest award winners from the previous five years engraved on the trophy. Along with the Copeland Trophy, the R.T. Rush Trophy is awarded to the second best and fairest player, the J.J. Ernest Benjamin 'Tich' Utting (31 October 1897 – 21 November 1948) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the Collingwood Football Club and Hawthorn Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL).
