Charlie Mulgrew (Gaelic Footballer)
Charlie Mulgrew (born 1960s) is an Irish Gaelic football manager and former player from County Donegal. Playing Mulgrew played for his school team, St Eunan's College. He repeated his Leaving Certificate at the College in 1978-79, playing for the team that won a MacLarnon Cup and All-Ireland B Final (Donegal's first ever title at All-Ireland level). He played his club football for St Eunan's. He won the 1982 All-Ireland Under-21 Football Championship with the Donegal county team. He played for the Donegal senior team between 1981 and 1992, winning the Sam Maguire Cup that year, as well as Ulster Senior Football Championship titles in 1983, 1990 and 1992. He sustained a broken jaw in the 1983 Ulster semi-final defeat of Monaghan. Along with Marty Carlin, Mulgrew was dropped from Tom Conaghan's county team for one year after they played for Letterkenny in a Forster Cup final victory at Ravenhill in 1987. St Eunan's GAA
St Eunans GAA ( ; or ''Naomh Adhamhnáin'') is a dual club which plays hurling and Gaelic football. Their home ground is O'Donnell Park in Letterkenny. They field 35 teams, making them the biggest club in their county. One of the strongholds of Gaelic football in County Donegal, they have won the joint most Donegal Senior Football Championship along with Gaoth Dobhair who have also won 15. Considered Donegal's most prolific club, they are renowned for their conveyor belt-like consistency in producing players of senior inter-county quality, including numerous All-Ireland winners. Declan Bonner
Declan Bonner (born 11 August 1965) is an Irish Gaelic footballer and manager. He played at senior level for the Donegal county team, winning an All-Ireland Senior Football Championship in 1992. He later managed the Donegal county team for two spells between 1997 and 2000 and 2017 and 2022, winning two Ulster Senior Football Championships during the latter, while playing as goalkeeper for Na Rossa. Bonner's first spell as manager of the county team, from 1997 until 2000, saw him denied an Ulster Senior Football Championship by a last-minute Joe Brolly goal in the 1998 final. After leading the county minor team to the 2014 All-Ireland Minor Football Championship final, Bonner was given a second chance at the senior job when a vacancy arose in 2017. Donegal Senior Football Championship
The Donegal Senior Football Championship (abbreviated as Donegal SFC) is an annual football competition organised by Donegal GAA and contested by the highest-level clubs, to determine the best team in County Donegal. Since 2016, it has been known as Michael Murphy Sports and Leisure Donegal SFC after its headline sponsor. Initially a straight knock-out competition, the Donegal SFC added a round-robin group stage in 2013. The final is played at MacCumhaill Park in Ballybofey. The winning club qualifies to represent its county in the Ulster Senior Club Football Championship, the winners of which go on to compete in the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship. The winning club receives the Dr Maguire Cup. The competition has been won by 17 clubs, 14 of which have won it more than once. The 1992 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final was the deciding match of the 1992 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, an inter-county Gaelic football tournament for the top teams in Ireland. The 105th All-Ireland SFC final, the event was held at Croke Park on 20 September 1992, contested by Dublin and Donegal. Donegal won the match by 0–18 to 0–14, with man of the match Manus Boyle scoring nine points (including one off the crossbar) and James McHugh beating Dublin goalkeeper John O'Leary early in the game, only for his strike on goal to also hit the crossbar in front of Hill 16. The All-Ireland Senior Football Championship (SFC) ( ga, Craobh Shinsir Peile na hÉireann) is the premier competition in Gaelic football. John Joe Doherty
John Joe Doherty (born 1968) is a former Irish Gaelic footballer and manager who played for Naomh Columba and the Donegal county team, later managing Donegal. Biography He won the 1987 All-Ireland Under-21 Football Championship with Donegal. He captained his club to the 1990 Donegal Senior Football Championship. Doherty, having recovered from a bone he broke while playing with his club, started against Armagh in the 1990 Ulster Senior Football Championship final, won by Donegal. He was a member of the Donegal team that won the county's first All-Ireland Senior Football Championship in 1992. Brian McIver
Brian McIver is a Gaelic football manager who has been in charge of two county teams and been part of another that played in an All-Ireland Senior Football Championship final. He was the 2007 National Football League-winning manager. A Tyrone native, McIver led Ballinderry Shamrocks to an All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship. Appointed manager of Donegal (in what was his first involvement at inter-county level), McIver led Donegal to an Ulster Senior Football Championship final in his first championship campaign. He then led Donegal to a National League title in 2007. His time as Donegal manager also saw him give a 17-year-old Michael Murphy his debut and he gave Neil McGee, Frank McGlynn, Rory Kavanagh and Anthony Thompson their first championship starts. The Meath County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Coiste na Mí) or Meath GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Meath, as well as for Meath county teams.
