Charlie Hewitt (footballer)
Charlie Hewitt (10 April 1884 – 31 December 1966) was an English professional football player and manager in the first half of the 20th century. He was in charge of Chester when they entered the Football League in 1931 and managed Millwall to the Football League Division Three South title seven years later. Playing career As a player, Hewitt was an inside forward who regularly moved between clubs. He had spells with Middlesbrough (1904–06), Tottenham Hotspur (1906–07) and Liverpool (1907–08). He joined West Bromwich Albion for a £75 fee in April 1908, making his debut in a Division Two match against Fulham during the same month.Matthews (2005) p. 110 He later played for Spennymoor United (May–October 1910), Crystal Palace (1910–15) and Hartlepools United (1919). Greatham, County Durham
Greatham is a village and civil parish in the borough of Hartlepool (borough), Hartlepool, County Durham, England. The population of the civil parish (including Newton Bewley) was taken in the United Kingdom Census 2011, 2011 census was 2,132. Greatham village is located approximately three miles south of Hartlepool town centre. History Greatham village is not mentioned in the Domesday Book, but appears first in written sources as ''Gretham'' in 1196. Greatham is the site of the Hospital of God, founded in 1273 by the then Bishop of Durham, Robert Stitchill, Robert de Stichell. Greatham Hospital was originally a foundation to aid poor people. Football League
The English Football League (EFL) is a league of professional football clubs from England and Wales. Founded in 1888 as the Football League, the league is the oldest such competition in the world. It was the top-level football league in England from its foundation until 1992, when the top 22 clubs split from it to form the Premier League. The EFL is divided into the Championship, League One and League Two, with 24 clubs in each division, 72 in total, with promotion and relegation between them; the top Championship clubs change places with the lowest-placed clubs in the Premier League, and the bottom clubs of League Two with the top clubs of the National League. Leyton Orient F
Leyton () is a town in east London, England, within the London Borough of Waltham Forest. It borders Walthamstow to the north, Leytonstone to the east, and Stratford to the south, with Clapton, Hackney Wick and Homerton, across the River Lea, to the west. The area includes New Spitalfields Market, Leyton Orient Football Club, as well as part of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The Football Association Challenge Cup, more commonly known as the FA Cup, is an annual knockout football competition in men's domestic English football. First played during the 1871–72 season, it is the oldest national football competition in the world. It is organised by and named after The Football Association (The FA). Since 2015, it has been known as The Emirates FA Cup after its headline sponsor. A concurrent women's tournament is also held, the Women's FA Cup. The competition is open to all eligible clubs down to Level 9 of the English football league system with Level 10 clubs acting as stand-ins in the event of non-entries from above. Football League Division Three North
The Third Division North of the Football League was a tier in the English football league system from 1921 to 1958. It ran in parallel with the Third Division South with clubs elected to the League or relegated from a higher division allocated to one or the other according to geographical position. Some clubs in the English Midlands shuttled between the Third Division North and the Third Division South according to the composition of the two leagues in any one season. The Third Division South had been created in 1921 from the Third Division formed the previous year made up of 22 teams drawn mostly from the Southern League. It was decided that this gave the Football League overall too much of a southern bias, so the Third Division North was created in 1921–22 to redress the balance. Cheshire County League
The Cheshire County League was a football league founded in the north west of England in 1919, drawing its teams largely from Cheshire, surrounding English counties and North Wales. Initially the league was dominated by the reserve teams of Football League clubs, but as the Central League became established for these teams, the non-league clubs won every title after 1938. The outbreak of World War II in 1939 led to the league being split into Eastern and Western sections, with the winners of each playing for the overall championship in 1939–40, with the league then closing down for the duration of the combat until restarting in 1945. In 1968 the league lost several clubs to the newly formed Northern Premier League. Despite this the league expanded in 1978 by adding a Division Two, but in 1982 the league ceased to exist after it merged with the Lancashire Combination to form the North West Counties Football League.
