Charlie Hammond
Charles William Hammond (19 March 1886 – 4 December 1936) was an Australian rules footballer who played with the Carlton Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Hammond is notable as the only footballer in history to play in five Carlton premiership sides. Family The son of Thomas Hammond, and Ann Hammond, née Williams, Charles William Hammond was born at Collingwood, Victoria on 19 March 1886. One of his brothers, Jack Hammond (1884–1971), played VFL football for Carlton and Melbourne; and another, Billy Hammond (1887–1919), played VFL football for Collingwood. He married Elsie May Allport (1885–1939) in 1910. Football Hammond originally played for the Northcote Football Club in the Metropolitan Junior Football Association (MJFA). Collingwood, Victoria
Collingwood is an inner-city suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 3km north-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Yarra local government area. Collingwood recorded a population of 9,179 at the 2021 census. The area now known as Collingwood is thought to have been named Yálla-birr-ang by the Wurundjeri people, the original Indigenous inhabitants of the area. William Hammond (25 October 1887 – 16 February 1919), nicknamed "Chock", was a former Australian rules footballer who played with Collingwood in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Family The son of Thomas Hammond, and Ann Hammond, née Williams, Billy Hammond was born on 25 October 1887. Two of his brothers, Jack Hammond (1884-1971), and Charlie Hammond (1886-1936) also played VFL football. He married Ellen Irvine in 1911. Jack Worrall
John Worrall (20 June 1861 – 17 November 1937) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the Fitzroy Football Club in the VFA, and a Test cricketer. He was also a prominent coach in both sports and a journalist. A small, nuggety man with broad shoulders, pink complexion and intense brown eyes, Worrall was one of Australia's great all-round sports people of the nineteenth century, and was involved in Australian football and cricket at the elite level for many decades. After his retirement, he coached both sports, and is considered the "father" of Australian football coaching. Worrall had an extended career as a sporting journalist, and he was a highly respected member of the press box right up until his death in 1937. He was no stranger to conflict, and his forthright manner embroiled him in a number of sporting controversies throughout his lifetime.
