Charlie Gogolak
Charles Paul Gogolak (in Hungarian language, Hungarian: ''Gogolák Károly Pál'', born December 29, 1944) is a retired American football placekicker. The sixth overall selection of the 1966 NFL Draft, Gogolak was signed out of Princeton Tigers football, Princeton University by the 1966 Washington Redskins season, Washington Redskins, marking the first time that a placekicker was selected in the first round. He played for the Redskins, as well as the New England Patriots. Gogolak was one of the first "Placekicker#Kicking style, soccer style" placekickers in the NFL, along with his older brother Pete Gogolak, Pete. Rábahídvég
Rábahídvég is a village in Vas county, Hungary. In 2001 it had 1053 inhabitants, and in 2008 it had 981. It is settled on the left coast of the River ''Rába''. History Reference to the village was first recorded in 1265, with the name of ''Hydwegh'' (end of the bridge). The name was given it because of a bridge on the Rába River. The villagers were the bridge guards. In the written sources the name of the village was ''Terra Hyduig'' (1280), ''Hydwegh'' (1283), ''Hyduig'' (1286) and ''Hydueg'' (1450). This was later the manor of the Hídvégi-family. Andrew from the Herman tribe got this territory in 1280 and his descendants took its name. In 1342 a chapel was built in the place where today's church now stands. In the Middle Ages the village also had a castle for the defence of the bridge. In 1532 the Turks destroyed this castle. The conversion, try (American football, also known as a point(s) after touchdown, PAT, or (depending on the number of points) extra point/2-point conversion), or convert (Canadian football) occurs immediately after a touchdown during which the scoring team is allowed to attempt to score one extra point by kicking the ball through the uprights in the manner of a field goal, or two points by bringing the ball into the end zone in the manner of a touchdown. The 1966 New York Giants season was the franchise's 42nd season in the National Football League (NFL). The season saw the Giants looking to improve on their 7–7 record from 1965. However, they finished in last place in the Eastern Conference with a 1–12–1 record, the worst in franchise history. The 12 losses set a single-season team record that was matched four times before being broken in 2017. The 1966 Giants surrendered the most points in NFL history for a 14-game season. They allowed 501 points in 14 games, or an average of 35.8 points per game. This total broke the league record for the most points given up in a season. The next most points allowed by a Giants team was 451 in the 2019 season, which was 16 games. Pete Gogolak
Peter Kornel Gogolak (; hu, Gogolák Péter Kornél; born April 18, 1942) is a former American football placekicker in the American Football League (AFL) for the Buffalo Bills, and in the National Football League (NFL) for the New York Giants. Gogolak is widely considered the chief figure behind the game's adoption of soccer style placekicking. In 1966, after playing two seasons for the AFL's Bills, he joined the NFL's Giants in May after playing out his option, sparking the "war between the leagues" and effectively expediting the subsequent AFL–NFL merger agreement in June. He is distinguished as being the first Hungarian to play in the National Football League. In 2010, the New York Giants announced that Gogolak would be included in the team's new Ring of Honor to be displayed at all home games in their new stadium.
