Charlie Getty
Charles Matthew Getty (born July 24, 1952) is a former American football guard (American football), tackle who played ten seasons in the National Football League, mainly for the Kansas City Chiefs. Getty competed in High school football, football, Track and field athletics, track and Scholastic wrestling, wrestling at Pompton Lakes High School in his hometown. He played college football and wrestled for Penn State Nittany Lions football, Penn State University. He finished fifth in the 1973 NCAA wrestling tournament and third in 1974. Getty later became an adjunct academic instructor and strength and conditioning coach for Evangel University. Guard (American Football)
In gridiron football, a guard (G), otherwise known as an offensive guard (OG), is a player who lines up between the center and the tackles on the offensive line of a football team on the line of scrimmage used primarily for blocking. Right guards (RG) is the term for the guards on the right of the offensive line, while left guards (LG) are on the left side. Guards are to the right or left of the center. The guard's job is to protect the quarterback from the incoming linemen during pass plays, as well as creating openings (holes) for the running backs to head through. Guards are automatically considered ineligible receivers, so they cannot intentionally touch a forward pass, unless it is to recover a fumble or is first touched by a defender or eligible receiver. Scholastic Wrestling
Scholastic wrestling, also known in the United States as folkstyle wrestling, is a style of amateur wrestling practiced at the high school and middle school levels in the United States. This wrestling style is essentially collegiate wrestling with some slight rule modifications. According to an athletics participation survey taken by the National Federation of State High School Associations, boys' wrestling ranked eighth in terms of the number of schools sponsoring teams, with 9,445 schools participating in the 2006–07 school year. Also, 257,246 boys participated in the sport during that school year, making scholastic wrestling the sixth most popular sport among high school boys. Evangel University is a private Christian university and seminary in Springfield, Missouri. It is affiliated with the Assemblies of God Christian denomination, which is also headquartered in Springfield. The campus sits on that were originally part of O'Reilly General Hospital.
