Charles Burke is former head coach of the Hong Kong National Men and Women's cricket teams. Perth
Perth is the capital and largest city of the Australian state of Western Australia. A sports coach is a person coaching in sport, involved in the direction, instruction and training of a sports team or athlete. History The original sense of the word ''coach'' is that of a horse-drawn carriage, deriving ultimately from the Hungarian city of Kocs where such vehicles were first made. Students at the University of Oxford in the early nineteenth century used the slang word to refer to a private tutor who would drive a less able student through his examinations just like horse driving. Britain took the lead in upgrading the status of sports in the 19th century. For sports to become professionalized, "coacher" had to become established. It gradually professionalized in the Victorian era and the role was well established by 1914. In sports broadcasting, a sports commentator (also known as sports announcer or sportscaster) provides a real-time commentary of a game or event, usually during a live broadcast, traditionally delivered in the historical present tense. Radio was the first medium for sports broadcasts, and radio commentators must describe all aspects of the action to listeners who cannot see it for themselves. Andrew Burke (poet)
Andrew Burke (born 1944 in Melbourne, Victoria) is a contemporary Australian poet. Early in his working life, Burke pursued a career in advertising as a copywriter and creative director. In the 1970s he had received prizes - the Thomas Wardle poetry prize of 1973, and 1977 the Tom Collins poetry prize. He switched to academia as a literature and creative writing lecturer in middle age. He received a MA in writing from Edith Cowan University in 2002, and a PhD in writing in 2006. He has lectured in Australia and China, and read his poetry to audiences of all ages in the United Kingdom, Singapore, China, and throughout Australia. His poetry has been included in Western Australian and Australian anthologies. Collections of his poems exist online and his blog includes poetry. Asian Cricket Council
The Asian Cricket Council also known as ACC is a cricket organisation which was established in 1983, to promote and develop the sport of cricket in Asia. Subordinate to the International Cricket Council, the council is the continent's regional administrative body, and currently consists of 26 member associations. Jay Shah is the current president of Asian Cricket Council. History The council was formed as the Asian Cricket Conference in New Delhi, India, on 19 September 1983, with the original members being Bangladesh, India, Malaysia, Pakistan, Singapore, and Sri Lanka. Changing its name to the present in 1995. Until 2003, the headquarters of the council were rotated biennially amongst the presidents' and secretaries' home countries. The Western Australian Cricket Association (known as the WACA) is the governing body for cricket in Western Australia. The WACA was formed on 5 November 1885. In 1893 the association opened the WACA Ground. Elite cricket The WACA is responsible for managing Western Australia's first-class cricket male team in the Sheffield Shield and Marsh Cup and female team in the Women's National Cricket League (WNCL).
