Charles W. Sweeting
Charles W. Sweeting (September 27, 1854 – April 17, 1937) was an American businessman and politician. Born in Syracuse, New York, Sweeting moved to Plymouth, Wisconsin in 1878 and then to Clarks Mills, Manitowoc County, Wisconsin, in the town of Cato, Wisconsin in 1883. Sweeting managed several cheese factories and handled butter, cheese, and dairy products. Later, he was a deputy dairy and food inspector and worked at the Aluminum Goods factory. He was also president of the Manitowoc Dairy Board of Trade. Sweeting was active in the Republican Party and served on the Manitowoc County Board of Supervisors. In 1897, Sweeting served in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Plymouth is a city in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, along the Mullet River. It is included in the Sheboygan, Wisconsin Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city is located in the Town of Plymouth, but is politically independent. Plymouth is known as "Hub City" for its former role as a center of wooden wheelwrighting. Cato is a town in Manitowoc County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,616 at the 2000 census. The unincorporated communities of Cato, Cato Falls, Clarks Mills, Grimms, Madsen, and North Grimms are located within the town. A Manitowoc County park is located in the town which is called "Cato Falls" for a waterfall on the Manitowoc River. The Wisconsin State Assembly is the lower house of the Wisconsin Legislature. Together with the smaller Wisconsin Senate, the two constitute the legislative branch of the U.S. state of Wisconsin.
