Charles Sutton (actor)
Charles Sutton (1856 – July 20, 1935) was an American actor of the silent era. He appeared in more than one hundred films between 1911 and 1923. In addition to his work on film, Sutton acted on stage, including working with the Pasadena Players at the Pasadena Community Playhouse. He left there to go to New York, where he worked in plays, including ''The Three Musketeers''. In his later years, Sutton lived in Englewood, New Jersey, in the Actors Fund Home. On July 20, 1935, he died in Englewood Hospital, aged 79. Charles Sutton (cricketer, Born 1891)
Charles Lexington Manners Sutton (26 April 1891 – 8 October 1962) was an English first-class cricketer and British Army officer. Sutton served in the British Army as a commissioned officer from 1911–1931, serving mostly with the Royal Fusiliers. During this period he served in the First World War and played first-class cricket for the British Army cricket team. He was later made an MBE. Life and military career Sutton was born at Chichester to the Reverend Charles Nassau Sutton (a great-grandson of Sir Richard Sutton, 1st Baronet) and his wife, Edith Mary Cafe.''Burke's Peerage 2003'', page 3829 He was educated at Eton College, from where he chose a career in the British Army. Charles Sutton (cricketer, Born 1906)
Charles Henry Sutton (17 December 1906 – 29 July 1945) was an English-Chilean first-class cricketer and Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve officer. Sutton played first-class cricket for the South American cricket team in 1932, before serving in the Second World War with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve. Toward the end of the war he fell seriously ill, dying just over a month before its conclusion. Life and military career Sutton was born at North Bierley in Yorkshire to Charles Evans Sutton and his wife, Annie Gertrude Sutton. He was educated at The Leys School. After completing his education, he moved to Valparaíso in Chile to help in his father's company which was based in the city. Having played cricket for club teams in Chile, Sutton was selected to tour England with the South American cricket team in 1932, making a single first-class appearance on the tour against Sir J. Charles William Sutton
Charles William Sutton (1848–1920) was a British librarian and author. Career Sutton was librarian of the Free Manchester Public Libraries. He was also Secretary of the Chetham Society from 1890 to 1920, Editor of the Lancashire and Cheshire Antiquarian Society from 1885 to 1920 and also a Member of the Manchester Literary and Philosophical Society. Writing He was a contributor to the ''Dictionary of National Biography'', creating many articles for the main work, and some for Supplement 1 and Supplement 2. Legacy The collection of his letters "1887–1908: letters to John Brownbill and other correspondence" are held by Manchester Archives and Local Studies.
