Charles Taylor Sherman
Charles Taylor Sherman (February 3, 1811 – January 1, 1879) was a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. Education and career Born on February 3, 1811, in Norwalk, Connecticut, Sherman graduated from Ohio University in 1830, with financial aid from one of his father's friends, after his father died in 1829. He read law in 1833, in the office of Henry Stoddard and under Judge Jacob Parker. He was admitted to the Ohio bar in 1833, and entered private practice in Mansfield, Ohio from 1835 to 1867, later joined by his brother John. He was a city councilman for Mansfield in 1846. Active in public and business affairs, Sherman contributed money, labor and personal influence to the location and building of the Sandusky, Mansfield and Newark Railroad and the Pittsburgh, Fort Wayne and Chicago Railroad becoming a director of both organizations. Charles "Cy" Sherman
Charles Sumner "Cy" Sherman (March 10, 1871 – May 22, 1951) was an American journalist and is known as the "father of the Cornhuskers" after giving the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team the name "Cornhuskers" in 1899. At his suggestion in 1936, Associated Press (AP) sports editor Alan J. Gould created the first AP Poll for ranking college football teams. Sherman began his career writing at the ''Nebraska State Journal'' in Lincoln, spent a short time at the Red Lodge, Montana ''Pickett'' before returning to Lincoln and the ''Lincoln Star'' where he spent most of his career. Charles Robert Sherman
Charles Robert Sherman (c. September 26, 1788 – June 24, 1829) was an American lawyer and public servant. Of his 11 children, four became prominent public figures during and after the civil war. Life and career Sherman was born in Norwalk, Connecticut, the son of Taylor Sherman, a judge and state representative. He studied law in the office of a Mr. Chapman in Newtown and was admitted to the bar in 1809. He married Mary Hoyt in 1810 and then moved to Lancaster, Ohio, where he was successful as a lawyer in private practice. In the War of 1812, he served as a Major of the Ohio Militia. In 1823 he became a judge in the Ohio Supreme Court, where he continued to serve until his sudden death in 1829. The Supreme Court rode a circuit in those days, and Sherman died while holding court in Lebanon, Ohio, where he was buried. He was later re-interred in Elmwood Cemetery, Lancaster, Ohio. Charles Sherman (artist)
Charles Sherman (born 1947) is an American artist best known for his continuum sculptures based on a three-dimensional form of the Möbius strip. Sherman’s work is included in museum and public collections, such as the San Diego Museum of Art, the Mobile Museum of Art, and the Golda Meir Center for Political Leadership at Metropolitan State University of Denver. His work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions in the United States and Asia. His sculpture and jewelry designs have appeared in contemporary design and architectural publications. ''Serenity'' (2006), part of his monumental ceramic ''Infinity Ring'' body of work, is installed lakeside at the ''Fountain Park Sculpture Garden'' in Fountain Hills, Arizona, and also in the front of the ''John Entenza House'' in Santa Monica, California, a precursor to the Case Study Houses.
