Charles Sedelmeyer
Charles Sedelmeyer (30 April 1837, Vienna – 9 August 1925, Paris) was an Austrian and French art dealer, collector, and publisher active in Paris from 1866, with premises at 6 rue de la Rochefoucauld. He is credited with popularising the Dutch artist Jan van Goyen in France. Sedelmeyer assessed the American market as important enough to send his Rubens ''Atalanta and Meleager'' from the Marlborough collection for exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in the winter of 1886. Abraham Bredius
Dr. Abraham Bredius (18 April 1855 in Amsterdam – 13 March 1946 in Monaco) was a Dutch art collector, art historian, and museum curator. Life Bredius travelled widely, visiting various art collections in his youth, and worked at the Dutch Museum for History and Art before becoming director, from 1889 to 1909, of the Mauritshuis. He became a Rembrandt expert who had many differences of opinion with Cornelis Hofstede de Groot. He was a regular contributor to the historical magazines ''Oud Holland'' and ''Künstler-Inventare''. In 1922, he left the Netherlands for health reasons and settled in Monaco, publishing books in 1927 on Jan Steen and, in 1935, a catalog of Rembrandt paintings, often referred to in the literature as "Bredius 1935". He bequeathed his papers to the Rijksbureau voor Kunsthistorische Documentatie, and his art collection lives on in the Museum Bredius. Václav Brožík
Václav Brožík (french: Vaclav de Brozik ; 6 March 1851, Třemošná – 15 April 1901 Paris) was a Czech painter who worked in the academic style. Life He came from a poor family, studying lithography and porcelain painting through apprenticeships. Beginning in 1868, with financial assistance from a local landowner, he was able to attend the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. He made a trip to the Netherlands, where he studied the Old Masters, then settled in Paris (despite not being able to speak French), where a letter of recommendation assured him the support of Jaroslav Čermák. Stanislas Lami
Stanislas Lami (30 November 1858 – 31 January 1944) was a French sculptor and art historian. Life He was born in Paris, the son of Marie Bidauld and the sculptor Alphonse Lami. On 24 June 1891 he married Émilie, the daughter of Austrian Charles Sedelmeyer, art dealer and editor. Works Some of his works are on show in museums in Spain. The musée d'Orsay has his marble sculpture of a '' Chien danois'' (c.1892) – he also produced a ''Death-Mask of Berlioz'' (1884) now held at the bibliothèque de l'Opéra de Paris. He gave one of his works to his relation Charles de Gaulle. Stanislas Lami exhibited frequently at the Paris Salons, including that of 1897, and at the Chicago salon of 1893. In the end his descendants held onto the majority of his works. He died in Paris in January, 1944, aged 85. Cornelis Hofstede de Groot (9 November 1863 – 14 April 1930), was a Dutch art collector, art historian and museum curator. Life He was born in Dwingeloo and spent some time in Switzerland in his youth due to weak lungs, where he learned German.
