Charles McPherson (born July 24, 1939) is an American jazz alto saxophonist born in Joplin, Missouri, United States, and raised in Detroit, Michigan, who worked intermittently with Charles Mingus from 1960 to 1974, and as a performer leading his own groups. McPherson also was commissioned to help record ensemble renditions of pieces from Charlie Parker, on the 1988 soundtrack for the film ''Bird (1988 film), Bird''. Charles Duncan McPherson
Col. Charles Duncan McPherson (April 11, 1877 —1970) was a soldier, journalist and politician from Manitoba, Canada. He served in the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba from 1910 to 1914, and again from 1915 to 1922. He was a Liberal, and served as a cabinet minister in the government of Tobias Norris. McPherson was born in Forest, Ontario, the son of Dougald McPherson, and was educated in the neighbouring area. He began work as an apprentice with the Forest ''Free Press'' in 1893. He moved to Portage la Prairie, Manitoba in 1896 and worked as a printer and later foreman there, in Neepawa and in Fort William, Ontario. From 1889 to 1901, he was manager and editor for the ''Weekly Manitoba Liberal'' in Portage la Prairie. In 1901, McPherson bought that paper and then, in 1903, the ''Daily Graphic'', merging the two. Charles Robert McPherson
Charles Robert McPherson (January 7, 1926 – September 22, 2020) was the senior pastor of the great Riverside Church in Denver. Early life Born in McGehee, Arkansas, McPherson is the oldest son of Dr. Charles Robert (George) McPherson and Alice McPherson. During his childhood, there was a fire that took their house and the family lost everything. The family could no longer provide for Bob, so he moved to live with his mother's sister, Tiny, in Lake Village, Arkansas. Aunty Tiny enrolled Bob in a Catholic school. When Bob was 10, his parents moved to Lake Village allowing Bob to move back in with his immediate family. They all attended First Baptist Church, where he first draws his attention for preaching. Bob, encouraged to attend college by an English teacher, applied and gained entry to Ouachita Baptist University.
