Charles Mayer (actor)
Charles Mayer (born 13 February 1970) is an English actor. Early life Charles Mayer was born in South Tidworth, Hampshire, England, the son of Jennifer-Ann Wright, a retired RAF Intelligence officer and Martin Mayer, an RAF test pilot. He has one elder and one younger sister, with two nieces and two nephews. He passed the Regular Commissions Board and in 1992 entered Sandhurst, from where he was commissioned into the Welsh Guards. After the Platoon Commander's Battle Course, he took over a platoon in Northern Ireland in January 1993. He spent four years as an officer in Northern Ireland, two years as an instructor at the Infantry Training Centre, Catterick, two years on ceremonial duties in London, and a further two years in Tidworth, working in an office 100 yards from where he was born. Charles Mayer (7 January 1882 – 5 May 1972) was an American middleweight and heavyweight boxer who competed in the early twentieth century. He won two medals in boxing at the 1904 Summer Olympics, one of only five boxers in Olympic history to ever do so. Charles Mayer (21 March 1799 – 2 July 1862), also known as Carl Mayer or Charles Meyer, was a Prussian pianist and composer active in the early 19th century. Life Mayer was born in Königsberg. His father was a clarinetist who, soon after Charles's birth, moved to Saint Petersburg and four years later to Moscow. He received his early musical education from his mother, followed by extended studies with John Field (1782–1837), with whom he continued to study after the family returned to Saint Petersburg after the Moscow fire of 1812. His first successful tour as a concert pianist in 1814 led him to Poland, Germany, Holland, and France, before he settled in Saint Petersburg in 1819. During another celebrated concert tour of 1845 he travelled through Scandinavia (where he became an honorary member of the Royal College of Music in Stockholm), Germany (Hamburg, Leipzig) and Austria (Vienna). Charles Mayer (animal Collector)
Charles Mayer (1862 – May 14, 1927) was an American animal collector, tamer, and circus supplier. He also wrote books on his animal capture adventures and one of his books was found to have plagiarised several paragraphs from a book by an Indian elephant capture specialist. Originally from Binghamton, New York, Mayer ran away at age seventeen to join the Sells Brothers Circus as an elephant trainer. Mayer reported that circus owner J. A. Bailey eventually sent him to India to bring back elephants. Per his own reports, he ended up staying in Trengganu, Malaysia for many years. Mayer attempted to build an animal-export business to American circuses by offering low prices, but often listed animals he had not yet trapped for sale and was not very successful. Charles Mayer (28 January 190112 November 1971) was a Canadian journalist, sportsperson and politician. He made a name in journalism as a sportswriter and municipal reporter with the newspaper '' La Patrie'', and the magazine ''Le Petit Journal''. He was the French-language publicist for the National Hockey League, and a radio sports commentator for the Montreal Royals and the Montreal Canadiens. He later became a press secretary for horse racing in Montreal, then was president of the Canadian Boxing Federation and vice-president of the National Boxing Association. He served six years on the Montreal City Council and campaigned for the city to host a Major League Baseball team and the Summer Olympic Games. He was one of the inaugural appointees to the National Fitness Council of Canada, was inducted into Canada's Sports Hall of Fame in 1971, and was posthumously recognized with the Elmer Ferguson Memorial Award in 1985 for his career as a hockey journalist. Charles James Mayer, (born April 21, 1936) is a Canadian businessman and former federal Minister of Agriculture. He was educated at the University of Saskatchewan and became an agrologist and farmer. Politically active, Mayer was president of the Manitoba Beef Growers Association before entering the House of Commons of Canada as a Progressive Conservative Member of Parliament in 1979. He represented the Manitoba riding of Portage—Marquette (later Lisgar—Marquette) until his defeat in 1993. He served in the Brian Mulroney government as Minister of State for the Canadian Wheat Board until 1987 and then was Minister of State for Grains and Seedoils until 1993 also serving as Minister of Western Economic Diversification from 1989. Charles Léopold Mayer (1881–1971) was a French biochemist, humanist and materialist philosopher. Biography Mayer was a materialist. He argued that all living matter is "irritable" and responds to stimuli. He explained the phenomena of life without recourse to "final causes".
