''Before the Frost'' (''Innan Frosten'', 2002) is a novel by Swedish crime-writer Henning Mankell. The protagonist is Linda Wallander, daughter of Inspector Wallander. The book was to be the first in a three-book series with Linda as the main character. However Mankell abandoned the series after just one novel when the actress playing Linda in the Swedish films, Johanna Sällström, committed suicide in 2007. Kurt Wallander and Stefan Lindman (the protagonist from ''The Return of the Dancing Master'') also feature in the novel. Linda Wallander is bored. ''For Life'' is an American legal drama television series created by Hank Steinberg that premiered on ABC on February 11, 2020. The series is inspired by the true story of Isaac Wright Jr., who was imprisoned for a crime that he did not commit. The novel was published on 5 April 2012 by Little, Brown and Company and follows a man returning to a small seaport town after leaving because of a sexual scandal. ''The Irish Times'' picked the book as one of their "Books to Read in 2012". Plot summary Stewart Gilmour returns to Stonemouth, a fictional seaport town north of Aberdeen, for a funeral. It is five years since he ran away to London after a sexual indiscretion at a wedding. Stonemouth is controlled by two rival gangs, the Murstons and the MacAvetts, and Gilmour was engaged to a member of the former clan before he had to leave.
