Charles Foxe
Charles Foxe (by 1516 – December 1590), of Bromfield, Shropshire and the Inner Temple, London, was an English politician. Family Foxe was the second of six sons of Ludlow MP, William Foxe. His brother, Edmund Foxe, also represented the constituency. Foxe married Elizabeth Crosby, by whom he had two sons and three daughters. His second marriage was to Catherine Leighton, daughter of Sir Edward Leighton of Shropshire, with whom he had three sons. Foxe also had an illegitimate son by an unknown mother. Bromfield, Shropshire
Bromfield is a village and civil parish in Shropshire, England. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 306, which had fallen to 277 at the 2011 census. Location Bromfield is located near the market town of Ludlow, two miles (3 km) northwest of the town centre, on the A49 road. The A4113 road (to Knighton) has its eastern end in Bromfield, at its junction with the A49. The village is situated near the confluence of the River Teme and River Onny. The latter splits the village into two, with the church and many of the older buildings to the west and the recently redeveloped business area to the east (towards Ludlow). A bridge takes the main road over the river. History The manor of Bromfield, and separately Bromfield Priory, are recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086, then still falling within the Saxon hundred of Culvestan, which was abolished in the reign of Henry I; Bromfield then came within Munslow hundred. Much Wenlock (UK Parliament Constituency)
Much Wenlock, often called simply Wenlock, was a constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of England until 1707, then of the Parliament of Great Britain from 1707 to 1800, and finally of the Parliament of the United Kingdom from 1801 to 1885, when it was abolished. It was named after the town of that name in Shropshire. The seat was founded in 1468 as a borough constituency and was represented throughout its history by two burgesses. Shropshire
Shropshire (; alternatively Salop; abbreviated in print only as Shrops; demonym Salopian ) is a landlocked historic county in the West Midlands region of England. Ludlow (UK Parliament Constituency)
Ludlow is a constituency in Shropshire represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2005 by Philip Dunne, a member of the Conservative Party. History From its 1473 creation until 1885, Ludlow was a parliamentary borough. It was represented by two burgesses until 1868, when it was reduced to one member. The seat saw a big reduction in voters between 1727 when 710 people voted to the next contested election in 1812 when the electorate was below 100. The 1832 Reform Act raised the electorate to 300-400. The parliamentary borough was abolished in 1885, and the name transferred to the new county "division" (with lower electoral candidates' expenses and a different returning officer) whose boundaries were expanded greatly to become similar to (and a replacement to) the Southern division of Shropshire.
