Charles Dunn (Wisconsin Politician)
Charles Dunn (December 28, 1799April 7, 1872) was an American lawyer and judge. He was the only Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Wisconsin Territory. After Wisconsin became a state he served four years in the Wisconsin State Senate. He is the namesake of Dunn County, Wisconsin. Biography Born in Bullitt's Lick, Bullitt County, Kentucky, Dunn was educated in Kentucky and Illinois. Dunn read law under Nathaniel Pope in Illinois and was admitted to the Illinois bar. During the Black Hawk War of 1832, Dunn served in the Illinois Militia. Dunn served as the clerk of the Illinois House of Representatives and was elected to serve in the Illinois House. In 1836, President Andrew Jackson appointed Dunn to the Wisconsin Territorial Supreme Court and he served as chief justice of the court until Wisconsin was admitted to the union on May 29, 1848. Charles Morton Dunn (July 17, 1892 – November 15, 1975) was a life insurance agent and political figure in Saskatchewan. He represented Pheasant Hills from 1929 to 1934 and Francis from 1934 to 1938 in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan as a Liberal. He was born in Granville Ferry, Nova Scotia, the son of John Henry Dunn and Anne E. Morton, and was educated at the Annapolis Royal Academy. Charles Russell Dunn (c. 1898 – September 23, 1993) was an American bootmaker of handmade Western, or Cowboy Boot, cowboy boots for more than 80 years. Dubbed the "Michelangelo of cowboy boots," he first gained widespread notice in the wake of Jerry Jeff Walker's song "Charlie Dunn" (1972).
