Prince Charles Bretagne Marie de La Trémoille (24 March 1764 – 10 November 1839), 8th Duke of Thouars, 7th Duke of La Trémoïlle, 10th prince de Tarente, 14th prince de Talmond and 14th Count of Laval,Almanach de Gotha, ''La Trémoïlle''. Justus Perthes, 1944, p.463. French. was a French aristocrat and soldier; he was the son of Jean Bretagne Charles de La Trémoille and his wife Princess Marie-Maximilienne of Salm-Kyrburg. Marriages La Trémoille married Louise-Emmanuelle de Châtillon in 1781. She was a grand daughter of Louis César de La Baume Le Blanc, the famous writer. The couple had one daughter: *Caroline (26 October 1788 – 15 February 1791). At the outbreak of the French Revolution, he sided with King Louis XVI, as did the rest of his family. Maximilian Emanuel, 3rd Prince of Hornes, Count of Baucignies and of Solre-le-Château (31 August 1695, Brussels – 12 January 1763, Brussels), was a nobleman and Grand Huntsman of Brabant. Charles Louis Bretagne de La Trémoille (15 March 1683 – 9 October 1719), 6th duke of Thouars, was the son of Charles Belgique Hollande de La Trémoille and Madeleine de Créquy, daughter and heiress of Charles III de Créquy. He became duke of Thouars upon his father's death in 1709. He was also count of Laval and Montfort and inherited the ancient French claim to the Kingdom of Naples. The Neapolitan claim gave the family the rank of '' princes étrangers'' at the French court. The Duke made a career in the military as well as at Versailles: he was brigadier of cavalry (January 1709), first gentleman of the King's chamber (June 1709), governor of Thouars (July 1709), and Maréchal de camp (February 1719). Philip Joseph, Prince of Salm-Kyrburg (1709–1779) was the first prince of Salm-Kyrburg, from 1743 to 1779. Life and reign He was the second son of Hendrik Gabriel Joseph of Salm-Kyrburg, regent of Salm-Kyrburg from 1696 to 1716, and his wife Princess Maria Theresia de Croÿ. He had an elder brother, John, and a sister, Henriëtte (who married Maximilian, Prince van Hornes, who already had two daughters from a previous marriage, the eldest of whom later married Philip Joseph). Charles Armand René de La Trémoille (14 January 1708, in Paris – 23 May 1741), 6th duc de Thouars, was the son of Charles Louis Bretagne de La Trémoille and his wife, Marie Madeleine Motier de la Fayette. La Trémoille was a French soldier and president of the States of Brittany. He joined the military at a young age and became a colonel of the Champagne regiment at the age of eighteen. Later, he became governor of Île-de-France. He distinguished himself in the battle of Guastalla, in Italy, and was named shortly thereafter sergeant of the armies of the king. Maria Feodorovna (russian: Мария Фёдоровна; née Duchess Sophie Dorothea of Württemberg; 25 October 1759 – 5 November 1828 S 24 October became Empress consort of Russia as the second wife of Emperor Paul I. She founded the Office of the Institutions of Empress Maria. Daughter of Duke Frederick Eugene of Württemberg and Princess Friederike of Brandenburg-Schwedt, Sophie Dorothea belonged to a junior branch of the House of Württemberg and grew up in Montbéliard, receiving an excellent education for her time. After Grand Duke Paul (the future Paul I of Russia) became a widower in 1776, King Frederick II of Prussia (Sophie Dorothea's maternal great-uncle) and Empress Catherine II of Russia chose Sophie Dorothea as the ideal candidate to become Paul's second wife.
