Charles Calvin Bowman (November 14, 1852 – July 3, 1941) was a Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Pennsylvania. Charles Calvin Bowman was born in Troy, New York. He attended Lansingburgh Academy in Troy, and learned the woodworking trade. He graduated in civil engineering from Union College in Schenectady, New York, in 1875. He was engaged in civil engineering work for the State of Massachusetts at Danvers, Massachusetts, in 1875. He organized the western shipping department of the Pennsylvania Coal Company of Pittston, Pennsylvania, in 1876, which he managed the company until 1883. He served as general manager of the Florence Coal Co., in 1883 and 1884, later operating as an independent miner and shipper of anthracite coal Anthracite, also known as hard coal, and black coal, is a hard, compact variety of coal that has a submetallic luster. Charles Lewis Bowman (1890 – May 31, 1971) was an American architect. Born in New York City December 9, 1890 but raised in Mount Vernon, New York he graduated from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York with both his Bachelors (Class of 1912) and master's degree in architecture. Per a notice in The New York Times of the accomplishment, he was the first recipient of a fellowship in architecture awarded at Cornell as a standout student with several undergraduate awards. His mother was a descendant of Col. Fielding Lewis and Betty Washington, the only sister of President George Washington. His daughter Jean (1917–1994) would later found in 1980 the American Academy of Equine Art and be noted sporting artist. Post graduation Lewis would work for the prestigious firm of McKim, Mead and White in New York City as a draftsman during the summers of 1911 - 1913. Charles Martin Bowman
Charles Martin Bowman (May 7, 1863 – October 24, 1932) was a politician in Ontario, Canada. He was a Liberal member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario who represented the ridings of Bruce North from 1898 to 1914 and Bruce West from 1914 to 1919. Background Bowman was born in St. Jacobs, Canada West, the son of Isaac Erb Bowman, and educated there and in Berlin (later Kitchener, Ontario). He entered his father's tanning business and set up a tannery in Southampton, Ontario, Southampton in 1882. After a fire destroyed that business, he purchased a tannery at Port Elgin, Ontario, Port Elgin. He went on to operate a furniture business in Southampton. Charles Sumner Bowman (–unknown), was an American architect and educator. He had his own architecture firm in Kansas City, Kansas, and served as the director of the industrial department of Western University in Quindaro, Kansas from 1898 until 1902. Biography Charles Sumner Bowman was born in in Mississippi. He and his three siblings were raised by his single mother Mattie (or Marta) Bowman, who was widowed, and worked as a maid in Vicksburg. He attended night school at Tuskegee Institute (now Tuskegee University) starting in 1892. By 1895, Bowman had enrolled in the day school at Tuskegee Institute, where he earned a normal school diploma and carpentry diploma in 1898. Sir Charles Edward Beck Bowman (born 1962), is a British accountant who served as the 690th Lord Mayor of London. Career Bowman was born in Essex and educated at Old Buckenham Hall School from 1970 to 1975 before attending Uppingham School from 1975 to 1979.
