Charles Edward Bateman FRIBA (8 June 1863 – 5 August 1947) was an English architect, known for his Arts and Crafts and Queen Anne-style houses and commercial buildings in the Birmingham area and for his sensitive vernacular restoration and extension work in the Cotswolds. Life and career Bateman was born in Castle Bromwich, the son of architect John Jones Bateman, and educated in London and Eastbourne. In 1880 he was articled as a trainee in his father's practice before spending two years in the offices of London architects ''Verity and Hunt''. Verity and Hunt also had offices in Evesham, and it was while working here that he developed an interest in the traditional vernacular architecture of the South Midlands that was to be a lifelong preoccupation. On returning to Birmingham as a qualified architect in 1887, Bateman entered into partnership with his father as ''Bateman and Bateman''. Charles Bateman (actor)
Charles Wilbur Bateman (born in San Diego, California) is an American actor. He appeared in 76 different television programs between 1958 and 1991, as well as numerous theatrically-released and made-for-telelevision films. He is perhaps best recognized to audiences for his role as the ill-fated First Officer Larsen in the 1972 box-office smash and cinematic classic '' The Poseidon Adventure'' Early years Bateman's early training in acting came at San Diego Junior College and La Jolla Playhouse as well as in a stock theater company. He was one of three children born to Thomas O. Bateman and Ivarene Cornelius Bateman. His mother died at the age of 110. Career Bateman's first television appearance was as "Cousin Jeff Martin" in the 1958 episode "Black Fire" of the ABC/Warner Brothers western series ''Maverick'', starring James Garner. 2008 Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain
The 2008 Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain was the sixth season of the one-make championship. It consisted of 20 rounds, beginning on 29 March at Brands Hatch and finishing on 21 September at the same venue. The series supported the British Touring Car Championship throughout the season. Tim Harvey claimed his first title, having finished as runner-up to Richard Westbrook in 2004, Damien Faulkner in 2006 and James Sutton in 2007, Michael Caine finished the season as runner-up. Other front runners throughout the season were Sam Hancock, Tim Bridgman and Phil Quaife. Guest drivers Stefan Hodgetts, son of former British Touring Car champion Chris, and Nick Tandy were also victorious. Former BTCC race winner Paul O'Neill was another notable guest driver.
