Charles B. Cox
Charles Benjamin Cox (June 25, 1810April 27, 1891) was an American businessman, Republican politician, and Wisconsin pioneer. He was a member of the Wisconsin Senate, representing the vast northwest quadrant of the state during the 1860 and 1861 legislative sessions. He also served one term in the Wisconsin State Assembly. His name was often abbreviated as . Biography Charles B. Cox was born in Chenango County, New York, in June 1810. He apprenticed as a miller and learned the trade, then worked for seventeen years in Ohio before moving to Wisconsin. In 1849, he went to what is now the town of Clifton, Pierce County, Wisconsin, where he was the first American settler. He lived in a cave for his first year, but during that time built the first saw mill and first grist mill in the Kinnickinnic River valley. Pierce County is a county in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. As of the 2020 census, the population was 42,212. Its county seat is Ellsworth. Pierce County is part of the Minneapolis–St. Paul– Bloomington, MN-WI Metropolitan Statistical Area. River Falls is a city in Pierce County, Wisconsin, Pierce and St. Croix County, Wisconsin, St. Croix counties in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. American Civil War
The American Civil War (April 12, 1861 – May 26, 1865; also known by other names) was a civil war in the United States.
