Charles Alexander of Württemberg (24 January 1684 – 12 March 1737) was a Württemberg Duke from 1698 who governed the Kingdom of Serbia as regent from 1720 until 1733, when he assumed the position of Duke of Württemberg, which he held until his death. Christian Friedrich Carl Alexander (german: Christian Friedrich Karl Alexander; 24 February 1736 – 5 January 1806) was the last margrave of the two Franconian principalities, Bayreuth and Ansbach, which he sold to the King of Prussia, a fellow member of the House of Hohenzollern. Charles Alexander (politician)
Charles Alexander (13 June 1816 – 5 November 1905) was a Scottish-born merchant and political figure in Quebec. He represented Montréal-Centre in the Legislative Assembly of Quebec from 1874 to 1875 as a Liberal. He was born in Dundee, the son of John Alexander and Murina Mudie, and was educated there. He worked for a firm that manufactured marmalade. Alexander was married Margaret Kyle in 1838. In 1840, he came to Lower Canada with his family after the company opened a branch in Montreal. In 1841, he operated a business in London, Upper Canada with a partner but, in 1842, returned to Montreal and opened a confectionery store there the following year. He expanded into manufacturing, wholesale sales and catering; Alexander also operated a dining room and ice cream parlour. Alexander served on the municipal council for Montreal from 1865 to 1875. Charles McCallon Alexander (24 October 1867 – 13 October 1920) a native of East Tennessee, was a popular nineteenth-century gospel singer who worked the evangelistic circuit for many years. Over the course of his ministry, he toured with R. A. Torrey and John Wilbur Chapman, most notably. In 1904, Alexander married Helen Cadbury, daughter of the Cadbury Chocolate Company president. She toured with him on the evangelistic circuit as a women's worker. Together they spread The Pocket Testament League around the world. Charles Paul Alexander (September 25, 1889, Gloversville, New York - December 3, 1981) was an American entomologist who specialized in the craneflies, Tipulidae. Charles Paul Alexander was the son of Emil Alexander and Jane Alexander (née Parker). Emil (the father) immigrated to the United States in 1873 and changed his surname from Schlandensky to Alexander. Charles entered Cornell University in 1909, earning a Bachelor of Science in 1913 and a Ph.D. in 1918. Between 1917 and 1919, he was entomologist at the University of Kansas, then from 1919 to 1922, at the University of Illinois. He then became professor of entomology at Massachusetts Agricultural College at Amherst. He studied Diptera, especially in the family Tipulidae. Charlie Alexander (May 29, 1890 – February 4, 1970) was an American jazz pianist from Cincinnati, Ohio. In 1917, he was the Band Sergeant for the 370th Infantry Regiment's band. Alexander played in theater orchestras accompanying silent films in the early 1920s. Later that decade he moved to Chicago and found work touring with the band of J. Rosamond Johnson. Following this he played with Baby Dodds and Johnny Dodds; he and Johnny formed a trio with bassist Bill Johnson in 1928.
