Charles A. Bigelow
Charles Allen Bigelow (December 12, 1862 – March 12, 1912) was an American actor. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he became a comedic actor and, though contemporary critics complained of his versatility, he was also one of the most popular comedians of the generation. He performed alongside Anna Held in Florenz Ziegfeld, Jr.'s revival of ''The French Maid'' in 1899 and received rave reviews. Helene Anna Held (19 March 1872 – 12 August 1918) was a Polish-French stage performer on Broadway. Florenz Edward Ziegfeld Jr. (; March 21, 1867 – July 22, 1932) was an American Broadway impresario, notable for his series of theatrical revues, the ''Ziegfeld Follies'' (1907–1931), inspired by the ''Folies Bergère'' of Paris. He also produced the musical ''Show Boat''. He was known as the "glorifier of the American girl". Ziegfeld is a member of the American Theater Hall of Fame. ''The French Maid'' is a musical comedy in two acts by Basil Hood, with music by Walter Slaughter, first produced at the Theatre Royal, Bath, England, under the management of Milton Bode on 4 April 1896. It then opened London's Terry's Theatre under the management of W. H. Griffiths beginning on 24 April 1897, but later transferred to the Vaudeville Theatre on 12 February 1898, running for a very successful total of 480 London performances. Meadville is a city in and the county seat of Crawford County, Pennsylvania. The city is within of Erie and within of Pittsburgh. It was the first permanent settlement in Northwestern Pennsylvania. Cambridge Springs is a borough with home rule status in Crawford County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 2,511 at the 2020 census, down from 2,595 at the 2010 census. History The village of Cambridge was settled in 1822 and was named for the town of Cambridge, Massachusetts. It was incorporated into the borough of Cambridgeboro on April 3, 1866.Bates, p. 493. In the late 19th century, Cambridgeboro was known for its mineral springs. The discovery of the springs eventually led to renaming the borough to Cambridge Springs on April 1, 1897.
