Charlene Polio
Charlene Polio (born 1961) is an American linguist. She is currently a professor in the Department of Linguistics, Languages, and Cultures at Michigan State University, The United States. Her research focuses on second language acquisition with a special focus on second language writing. Career Polio obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Linguistics in 1983 and her Master of Science degree in TESOL in 1984 at the University of Pennsylvania. In 1992 she obtained her PhD in Applied linguistics at the University of California, Los Angeles. Polio was the co-editor of T''he Modern Language Journal''''.'' New Haven is a city in the U.S. state of Connecticut. She is currently a professor in the Department of Linguistics at Georgetown University. Her research focuses on applied linguistics and research methods. Language complexity is a topic in linguistics which can be divided into several sub-topics such as phonological, morphological, syntactic, and semantic complexity. The subject also carries importance for language evolution. Language complexity has been studied less than many other traditional fields of linguistics.
