Chapter 3 (g.o.d Album)
''Chapter 3'' is the third studio album by South Korean pop music group g.o.d. Released on November 3, 2000, it was the first of their million-selling albums and features "Lies" (거짓말) as its title track. A commercial success, the album sold 1,505,162 copies by the end of the year, making it the second best-selling album of 2000 in South Korea. By April 2001, it sold over 1,824,000 copies. Background and release The album features several of g.o.d's most well-known and popular songs, such as "Lies", "One Candle" and "Sky Blue Balloon", which was dedicated to their fans and referred to their fandom color sky blue. Critical reception In its review of the album ''The Hankyoreh'' noted that although the overall musical style did not stray from that of the first two albums, the album's appeal lay in the relatable lyrics of the songs, listenable melodies and the members' own natural vocal styles. K-pop
K-pop (), short for Korean popular music, is a form of popular music originating in South Korea as part of South Korean culture. ''Inkigayo'' ( ko, 인기가요; English title: ''The Music Trend'', previously ''Popular Song'') is a South Korean music program broadcast by SBS. It airs live every Sunday. The show features some of the latest and most popular artists who perform on stage. It is broadcast from the SBS Open Hall in Deungchon-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul. History ''Inkigayo'' debuted as ''SBS Popular Song'' in 1991 as a chart show, but was canceled in fall 1993 because it was replaced by TV Gayo 20 (TV 가요20). It was later revived in 1998 with its original title and format. Mnet (acronym of Music Network) is a South Korean pay television music channel owned by CJ E&M, a division of CJ ENM, part of CJ Group. The CJ E&M Center Studio located in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul is the broadcast and recording centre of many Mnet programs with a studio audience, namely the live weekly music show '' M Countdown''. List Of Number-one Albums In South Korea (1998–2008)
Between August 1998 and September 2008, the Recording Industry Association of Korea (RIAK) and the Music Industry Association of Korea (MIAK) published a monthly record chart, ranking the best-selling CDs and cassettes within South Korea. At least 100 albums and two singles have topped the chart during the course of its existence. In early 1998, South Korea's National Tax Service decided that the music industry should be more transparent. The Korean Video Record Association decided in a meeting held on July 23, 1998, that record sales should be tracked and released on a monthly basis. The record labels had to submit the sales of an album up to six months after its release. The data had to be submitted until the 7th of every month and was released by the RIAK on the 10th. Kim Tae-woo (singer)
Kim Tae-woo (; born May 12, 1981) is a South Korean singer, best known as the lead vocalist of boy band g.o.d. He debuted in 1999 as a member of g.o.d and continued as a solo artist after the group went on hiatus in 2006. In addition to his solo career, Kim has also sung the OSTs of award-winning popular dramas and performed in musicals. Background Kim was born in Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province, the only son and youngest of three children. Danny Ahn (Hangul: 데니안; born December 22, 1978) is a Korean-American entertainer best known as the main rapper of the South Korean pop music group g.o.d. He is notable for his unique rapping. One Candle (g
"One Candle" () is a song performed by South Korean boy band g.o.d. It is from their third album ''Chapter 3'' (2000), and has since become one of their most widely-known songs. Music The lyrics and music were composed by Park Jin-young. He stated that the lyrics were inspired by a quote he saw on graffiti while visiting New York City: "Better to light a candle than curse the darkness." The song was promoted alongside the title track " Lies". At that time, the group was not managed by his company JYP Entertainment but he worked closely with them as a producer and songwriter. The accompanying soundtrack was also included in the album and was arranged by composer and music producer Bang Si-hyuk, who went on to establish Big Hit Entertainment.
