Chaophraya Bodindechanuchit (Yaem Na Nakhon)
Chaophraya Bodindechanuchit ( th, เจ้าพระยาบดินทรเดชานุชิต), personal name Yaem na Nakhon ( th, แย้ม ณ นคร, also spelled na Nagara) was the Siamese Minister of Defense from August 26, 1921 to August 4, 1926. Biography Early years Yaem was born on April 21, 1867 as the son of , the governor of Nakhon Si Thammarat. Yaem spent his childhood studying Thai and Khmer and Thai numbers under a few tutors. When he was 13, he ordained as a novice monk at Wat Phra Mahathat, Nakhon Si Thammarat province but later moved to Wat Mai Ka Kaew. Military service Yaem entered government service in 1880 after Somdet Chaophraya Sri Suriwongse recruited him while visiting Nakhon Si Thammarat and brought him to Bangkok. Vajiravudh
Vajiravudh ( th, วชิราวุธ, , 1 January 188126 November 1925) was the sixth monarch of Siam under the Chakri dynasty as Rama VI. He ruled from 23 October 1910 until his death in 1925. King Vajiravudh is best known for his efforts to create and promote Siamese nationalism. His reign was characterized by Siam's movement further towards democracy and minimal participation in World War I. He had keen interests in Siamese history, archaeology, and literature, as well as economics, politics and world affairs, and founded the country's first university, Chulalongkorn University. Education Vajiravudh was born on 1 January 1881 to Chulalongkorn and one of his four queens and half sister Saovabha Phongsri. Ngiao Rebellion
The Ngiao rebellion ( th, กบฏเงี้ยว) in 1902 was an uprising of Tai Yai (Shan, historically known in Thai as ''Ngiao'') people against Siamese rule, in what is now Phrae province in northern Thailand. It arose as resistance to centralizing reforms initiated by King Chulalongkorn, particularly the levying of taxes and the adoption of the Monthon Thesaphiban provincial administration system, as well as the partitioning of territory with the British, which forced the Shan to adopt either British or Siamese nationality. In the morning of 25 July 1902, rebels attacked and looted the town of Phrae, killing over twenty government officials including the royal commissioner, Phraya Ratcharitthanon. The rebellion was soon quelled by troops from Bangkok led by Chaophraya Surasakmontri. The Wild Tiger Corps ( th, กองเสือป่า) was a national paramilitary corps founded in Thailand in 1911 by King Vajiravudh (Rama VI). Inspired by the British Volunteer Force, the unit was intended to maintain civil order. The Wild Tiger Corps was founded on 1 May 1911 by King Vajiravudh. The corps was meant to be a nationwide paramilitary corps, answerable only to the monarch. At first a ceremonial guard, it became a military force of 4,000 within its first year.
