Chanyang-hoe or Chanyanghoe (English: 'Promotion Society' or "Praise and Encouragement Association") was a Korean feminist organization, founded in 1898. Sunseong-hoe
Sunseong-hoe () alternatively called Suun Seong or Adoration Society was a Korean organization for women's rights, founded in 1896. It was the first women's organization in Korea. The purpose was to emancipate women by education and make them participate in the movement to keep Korea free from the domination of foreign powers. This was in a period when modernization was thought necessary to avoid becoming a colony under Japan or any other foreign power. It was the start point of the Korean women's movement. It was followed by Chanyang-hoe in 1898, the Women's Society for the Payment of National Debts in 1907, as well as by the first nationwide women's organization Geunwoohoe in 1927. A woman is an adult female human. Prior to adulthood, a female human is referred to as a girl (a female child or adolescent). The Socialist Women's Union of Korea (; formerly the Korean Democratic Women's Union, KDWU; ) is a mass organization for women in North Korea. Founded in 1945 as the North Korea Democratic Women's League, it is the oldest and one of the most important mass organizations in the country. The Union has committees on every level of administrative divisions of North Korea, from '' ri'' (village) all the way up to provinces. Sookmyung Women’s University () is a private university in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, South Korea. Founded in 1906, Sookmyung is Korea’s first royal private educational institution for women.
