Channel 79
Channel 79 was removed from television use in 1983, but was formerly used by several television stations in North America which broadcast on UHF frequencies covering 860-866 MHz: * CITY-TV in Toronto, Ontario first broadcast on this frequency in 1972, the highest frequency of any North American terrestrial originating station. Initially a 31 kW signal, it upgraded in 1976 to 208 kilowatts from the CN Tower. The station has been repeatedly displaced by cellular telephone encroachment on what were formerly broadcast frequencies. The city of Hood River is the seat of Hood River County, Oregon, United States. It is a port on the Columbia River, and is named for the nearby Hood River. As of the 2020 census, the city population was 8,313. It is the only city in Oregon where public consumption of alcohol on sidewalks or parks is totally unrestricted. Deora, Colorado
Deora is an unincorporated community in Baca County, Colorado, United States. History Deora was once the site of a post office, rail siding, school, and store, but little remains today. Early 20th Century When a post office was established in 1920, the postmistress suggested naming the settlement ''de'' ''oro'', meaning "of gold" in Spanish. Examinations for rural carriers in Stonington and Deora took place in June 1921. The excavation work for what the ''Springfield Democrat-Herald'' called a large post office building began in March 1922. Construction began in August. North American Broadcast Television Frequencies
The Pan-American television frequencies are different for terrestrial and cable television systems. Terrestrial television channels are divided into two bands: the VHF band which comprises channels 2 through 13 and occupies frequencies between 54 and 216 MHz, and the UHF band, which comprises channels 14 through 36 and occupies frequencies between 470 and 700 MHz. These bands are different enough in frequency that they often require separate antennas to receive (although many antennas cover both VHF and UHF), and separate tuning controls on the television set. The VHF band is further divided into two frequency ranges: VHF low band ( Band I) between 54 and 88 MHz, containing channels 2 through 6, and VHF high band ( Band III) between 174 and 216 MHz, containing channels 7 through 13.
