Change In Personality Over A Lifetime
Personality Changes: Originally thought to be concrete and unchanging, recent studies have found evidence that personality can change throughout a person's life. An important idea to keep in mind is that differences in personality traits among individuals tend to stay consistent throughout fairly long periods of time. However, that doesn't mean that personality traits do not change during an individual's life. Gradual changes to trait levels tend to happen throughout the lifetime of an individual and can become quite substantial. Trait levels can also change as a result of a major event in an individual's life. To understand the changes that can happen within personality, one must first understand it. Personality refers to individual differences in characteristic patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving. The Big Five Personality Traits
The Big Five personality traits is a suggested taxonomy, or grouping, for personality traits, developed from the 1980s onward in psychological trait theory. In operant conditioning, punishment is any change in a human or animal's surroundings which, occurring after a given behavior or response, reduces the likelihood of that behavior occurring again in the future. Agreeableness is a personality trait manifesting itself in individual behavioral characteristics that are perceived as kind, sympathetic, cooperative, warm, and considerate. Openness to experience is one of the domains which are used to describe human personality in the Five Factor Model. Openness involves six facets, or dimensions: active imagination (fantasy), aesthetic sensitivity, attentiveness to inner feelings, preference for variety (adventurousness), intellectual curiosity, and challenging authority (psychological liberalism).
