Gaston Chérau
Gaston Chérau (6 November 1872 – 20 April 1937) was a French man of letters and journalist. Biography The son of an industrialist, Gaston Chérau died in Boston during a lecture tour. A journalist and chronicler, he regularly gave the press his impressions of travel. In 1911, he traveled through Tripolitania conquered by the Italians on behalf of '' Le Matin'' newspaper. In 1914, he was a war reporter for the newspaper ''L'Illustration'' in Belgium and the North of France. A fertile novelist of the province, his pen is very influenced by the Berry where he had family roots, stayed a part of his childhood, and where he returned assiduously on vacation in a second home until the end of his life. He was elected a member of the Académie Goncourt in 1926. He was also interested in cinema and wrote the dialogues of the film ''Les Deux mondes'' (1930) directed by Ewald Andreas Dupont. Pierre Alcover
Pierre Alcover (14 March 1893 – 14 November 1957) was a French stage and film actor. He starred in 40 films between 1918 and 1943. In 1920 he starred in the film ''Champi-Tortu''. One of his most notable performances was in Marcel L'Herbier's 1928 film ''L'Argent (1928 film), L'Argent'', as the corrupt banker Saccard. He was the second husband of the film actress Gabrielle Colonna-Romano, and they are buried together in the cimetière de Rueil-Malmaison. Jacques De Baroncelli
Jacques de Baroncelli (25 June 1881 – 12 January 1951) was a French film director best known for his silent films from 1915 to the late 1930s. He came from a Florence, Florentine family who had settled in Provence in the 15th century, occupying a building in the centre of Avignon then called the Baroncelli Palace (now the Palais du Roure). His father's side of the family were of Tuscany, Tuscan origin and part of the Guelphs and Ghibellines, Ghibelline tradition, and they were hereditary Marquis of Javon, Marquises of Javon. Though somewhat aristocratic, the family spoke Provençal (dialect), Provençal, which was rather controversial at a time when it was considered to be a language of the common people. His older brother was Folco de Baroncelli-Javon, He directed well over 80 films between 1915 and 1948 and in the 1940s released numerous films in the United States and Italy.
