Chamkar Mon Section
Chamkar Mon ( km, ចំការមន, meaning 'Mulberry Farm') is the southernmost district in central Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The district has an area of 10.56 km2. As of the 2019 census, its population is 70,772. Administration Chamkar Mon was subdivided into 12 Sangkats and 95 Phums (villages). On January 8, 2019, according to sub-decree 03 អនក្រ.បក, 7 sangkats from Khan Chamkar Mon have been moved to a new khan, Khan Boeng Keng Kang. Tonle Bassac (commune)
The Bassac River ( km, ទន្លេបាសាក់; Tonlé Bassac) is a distributary of the Tonlé Sap and Mekong River. The river starts in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, and flows southerly, crossing the border into Vietnam near Châu Đốc. The name Bassac comes from the Khmer prefix “pa” (father or male) added to sak (សក្តិ) (power or honor), a Khmer word borrowed from the Sanskrit “sakti” (शक्ति). In Vietnam it is known as the Hậu River (''Sông Hậu'' or ''Hậu Giang'' in Vietnamese). The Bassac River is an important transportation corridor between Cambodia and Vietnam, with barges and other craft plying the waters. Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum
The Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum ( km, សារមន្ទីរឧក្រិដ្ឋកម្មប្រល័យពូជសាសន៍ទួលស្លែង) or simply Tuol Sleng ( km, ទួលស្លែង, link=no, ; lit. "Hill of the Poisonous Trees" or "Strychnine Hill") is a museum chronicling the Cambodian genocide. Located in Phnom Penh, the site is a former secondary school which was used as Security Prison 21 (S-21; km, មន្ទីរស-២១, link=no) by the Khmer Rouge regime from 1975 until its fall in 1979. From 1976 to 1979, an estimated 20,000 people were imprisoned at Tuol Sleng and it was one of between 150 and 196 torture and execution centers established by the Khmer Rouge. Tuol Svay Prey II
Tuol Svay Prey II (TSPII, km, ទួលស្វាយព្រៃទី២) is a quarter (''sangkat'') of Boeng Keng Kang Section (formerly of Chamkar Mon Section), Phnom Penh, Cambodia. In 2008 the staff of the ''Phnom Penh Post'' wrote that the area, "on the edge of the city", had an "urban" atmosphere, that it was "close to everything" and that it had "a strong sense of community." The newspaper added that "there is not a whole lot to do in the area. Unless you want to drive, the action is fairly limited." Transport Monireth Boulevard is to the northwest and Sihanouk Boulevard is to the northeast. The ''Phnom Penh Post'' wrote that those two roads, particularly during rush hour, can become congested. Boeng Keng Kang I (BKKI; km, បឹងកេងកងទី១) is a quarter (''sangkat'') in Boeng Keng Kang Section (formerly in Chamkar Mon Section), Phnom Penh, Cambodia. It has the nickname NGOville due to the presence of non-governmental organizations. Melanie Brew of the ''Phnom Penh Post'' described it as a "hip, trendy area" in 2008. Brew added that "There is also a feeling for some that the area is a little bit too cosmopolitan or international and is divided or separated from the "real" Cambodia."
