Chama Cha Uzalendo
The Chama Cha Uzalendo (, CCU) is a Kenyan political party established in 2004. The party is currently headed by Maur Bwanamaka. Former party chairmen include Wavinya Ndeti and Koigi Wamwere. 2007 general election Wavinya Ndeti was elected to Parliament as the first woman to ever represent the Kathiani constituency. Wavinya Ndeti
Wavinya Ndeti (born 8 November 1967) is a Kenyan politician and a business woman who is serving as the 2nd Governor of Machakos County. She previously served as a Member of Parliament for the Kathiani Constituency in the 10th Kenyan parliament and an assistant minister in the ministry of youth affairs and sport from 2008 to 2013. She was the first woman to be elected as a member of parliament in Machakos county since independence. She was a CCU candidate in 2013 and WDM-K candidate in 2017 for Machakos Governor. Koigi Wamwere
Koigi wa Wamwere (born 18 December 1949 in Rugongo, Nakuru District) is a Kenyan politician, human rights activist, journalist and writer. Koigi became famous for opposing both the Jomo Kenyatta and Daniel arap Moi regimes, both of whom sent him to detention. Early life Koigi's father, ''Wamwere'', hailed from Kiambu District. However, in 1915, the British colonial government declared that all land in Kenya belong to the settlers. As a result, several Kikuyu people had their land taken away. Koigi's father (then aged 4) and his family were among the evicted and had to move to Rift Valley Province, an area traditionally inhabited by Maasai people. Koigi's mother ''Wangu'', escaped a forced marriage and ended up in Rift Valley, only to be forcefully married with his father. They had nine children, Koigi being the oldest. Gitobu Imanyara (born c. 1954) is a Kenyan human rights lawyer, journalist, and politician. Biography After Imanyara spent more than two years in Maximum Security Prison on charges associated with his work as a human rights lawyer, he founded the '' Nairobi Law Monthly'' in 1987. It was not supportive of Daniel Arap Moi's one party policy and Imanyara was arrested for not registering the magazine. He was again arrested in 1990 after writing a special issue entitled "The Historic Debate: Law, Democracy, and Multi-Party Politics in Kenya." At one point he was held in a prison psychiatric ward, though he re-released the issue following his own release. 2017 Kenyan General Election
General elections were held in Kenya on 8 August 2017 to elect the President, members of the National Assembly and Senate. They coincided with the 2017 Kenyan local elections which elected Governors and representatives in the devolved governments. The published results showed that incumbent President Uhuru Kenyatta of the Jubilee Party had been re-elected with 54% of the vote. However, his main opponent, Raila Odinga of the Orange Democratic Movement, refused to accept the results and contested them in the Supreme Court. The results of the presidential election were subsequently annulled by the court and fresh presidential elections was ordered to be held within 60 days. Boniface Kabaka
Boniface Mutinda Kabaka (January 1, 1966 – 11 December 2020) was a Kenyan politician who served as a Senator from Machakos County from 2017 until his death in 2020. He was a member of the Chama Cha Uzalendo party. Kabaka was born on January 1, 1966, in Machakos County. He received several degrees from the University of Nairobi, including master's degrees in business administration, law, and diplomacy, and a PhD in finance law. He was elected to the Senate in 2017.
