CHAIN (industry Standard)
The CECED Convergence Working Group has defined a new platform, called CHAIN (Ceced Home Appliances Interoperating Network), which defines a protocol for interconnecting different home appliances in a single multibrand system. It allows for control and automation of all basic appliance-related services in a home: e.g., remote control of appliance operation, energy or load management, remote diagnostics and automatic maintenance support to appliances, downloading and updating of data, programs and services (possibly from the Internet). It is a continuation of the work done by the OSGi Alliance (formerly known as the Open Services Gateway initiative), which was an open standards organization for ... Controlled And Harmonised Aeronautical Information Network
The Controlled and Harmonised Aeronautical Information Network (abbreviated: ''CHAIN'') is a concept developed by EUROCONTROL to improve the quality, integrity, accuracy and interoperability of aeronautical data in kind of a digital data chain avoiding changes in medium in the whole data process. Using CHAIN regulators of aeronautical information as well as service providers (ANSPs) can be supported implementing and maintaining traceable, controlled and auditable processes in compliance with ICAO Annex 15 requirements for data quality with a focus on data integrity. The scope of CHAIN covers flight critical and essential navigational aeronautical data (e.g. a runway threshold coordinates and heights) as established in ICAO Annex 15, supplemented by the industry standards EUROCAE The European Organisation for Civil Aviation Equipment (EUROCAE) deals exclusively with aviation standardisation, for both airborne and ground systems and equipment. It was created in 1963 in Lucerne, Swi ...

Canadian High Arctic Ionospheric Network
The Canadian High Arctic Ionospheric Network (CHAIN) is an array of ground-based radio instruments deployed in the Canadian Arctic and operated by the University of New Brunswick. The CHAIN instruments include high data-rate GPS receivers and digital ionosondes. After passing through the Earth's ionosphere, microwave GPS signals carry information about the total electron content (TEC). This information is commonly used to improve the precision of GPS and to study ionospheric morphology. Ionosondes transmit pulses of radio signals in the Medium Frequency (MF) and High Frequency (HF) ranges, whose echos are analyzed to measure height and density of the ionosphere. Advanced digital ionosondes used in the CHAIN network are also able to measure the bulk motion of ionospheric plasma. Most of the CHAIN instruments are located within the polar cap defined as a region of open magnetic field lines. The polar cap ionosphere is directly linked to the interplanetary magnetic field carried by the ...
