Chaffey High School is a public high school in Ontario, California, United States. It is part of the Chaffey Joint Union High School District and rests on approximately , making it one of the largest high schools by area in California. The school currently serves northern Ontario and southern Rancho Cucamonga. History The Chaffey College of Agriculture, founded by the Ontario founders George and William Chaffey, opened on October 15, 1885. The institution, which also had a secondary school, was operated by the University of Southern California until 1901, when it came under the control of the local community and was renamed Ontario High School. In 1911, enrollment was opened to students from Upland and the school was renamed in honor of the Chaffey brothers. Almost all the high school-age students in western San Bernardino County attended Chaffey, a trend that continued until the 1950s. State Route 83 (SR 83), also or primarily known as Euclid Avenue, is a state highway and city street in the U.S. state of California. Officially, SR 83 runs from the Chino Valley Freeway ( State Route 71) in Chino Hills north to the San Bernardino Freeway (Interstate 10) in Upland. Larry Hans Maxie (born October 10, 1940) is a retired American professional baseball player and scout. During his on-field career he was a right-handed pitcher who appeared in two games in the Major Leagues for the Atlanta Braves on August 30 and 31, 1969. However, Maxie's pitching career extended for 15 seasons (1958–1972), all in the Braves' organization. Maxie stood tall and weighed . Robert W. Doll (August 10, 1919 – September 7, 1959) was an American professional basketball player who played in the early days of professional basketball for the St. Louis Bombers and Boston Celtics during the early years of the NBA. College and amateur career Doll starred at Chaffey High School in Ontario, California and played collegiately at the University of Colorado from 1939 to 1942, leading the Buffaloes to a period of great team success. A post player, "Ichabod" Doll was known as a voracious rebounder and defender with a soft shooting touch.
