Ben Chaffey (1876 – 3 March 1937) was a butcher, pastoralist and businessman in Australia. He was active in horse racing. Early life Ben Chaffey was born in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, the son of engineer George Chaffey and his wife Ann. The family came to Australia in 1885 and Ben lived with his parents in Mildura, Victoria. Business interests Chaffey worked as a butcher, but his fortune started with a winning gamble on his horse "Mavis". He became the owner of Moorara station in New South Wales, followed by Tapio, Culpaulin, Cuthero, Avoca. Kilfera, Manfred, Tolarno and other properties, most of which were subsequently taken up by the Crozier family. He was elected chairman of the board of directors of United Distillers Pty. Bill Chaffey
Major William Adolphus Chaffey (18 February 1915 – 4 March 1987) was an Australian farmer, distinguished soldier and long serving member of the Parliament of New South Wales. Chaffey represented the electoral district of Tamworth from 1940 to 1973. He also served as the New South Wales Minister for Agriculture from 1965 to 1968. Chaffey succeeded his father, Frank in parliament after the latter's death, and together they served a combined fifty-nine years and nine months in the New South Wales parliament representing the New England region of New South Wales. Donald Chaffey (5 August 1917 – 13 November 1990) was a British film director, writer, producer, and art director. Chaffey's film career began as an art director in 1947, and his directorial debut was in 1953. He remained active in the industry until his death in 1990 from heart failure. His film ''Charley One-Eye'' (1973) was entered into the 24th Berlin International Film Festival. He is chiefly remembered for his fantasy films, which include '' Jason and the Argonauts'' (1963), ''The Three Lives of Thomasina'' (1963), ''One Million Years B.C.'' Frank Chaffey
Captain Frank Augustus Chaffey (31 March 1888 – 9 July 1940) was an Australian politician. He was born at Moonbi to farmer William Adolphus Chaffey and Amelia, ''née'' Chad. He was educated at Nemingha and Tamworth before attending Hawkesbury Agricultural College, after which he worked on the family dairy farm. He studied at Sydney Technical College from 1907 and worked as a woolclasser briefly before returning to Tamworth to run the farm. He was active in the local Farmers and Settlers Association. On 1 May 1912 he married Amy Stella McIlveen, with whom he had six children. During World War I he served with the 1st Light Horse Brigade and from 1918 to 1919 was Director of Education of the Australian Infantry Forces. George Chaffey
George Chaffey (28 January 1848 – 1 March 1932) was a Canadian–born engineer who with his brother William developed large parts of Southern California, including what became the community of Etiwanda and cities of Ontario, and Upland. They undertook similar developments in Australia which became the city of Mildura, and the town of Renmark and Paringa. Biography Chaffey was born in Brockville, Ontario and attended Kingston Grammar School on Lake Ontario. Chaffey's family was of Scottish heritage. Although not interested in schoolroom instruction, he read engineering books from the local library. Chaffey left school at 13 years of age, was fascinated by the shipbuilding yard of his father and became an apprentice marine engineer in May 1862. Paul André Chaffey (born 10 July 1965) is a Norwegian businessperson and politician, who represented the Socialist Left Party until 1997. He is now State Secretary to Minister of Local Government Jan Tore Sanner, and a supporter of the Conservative Party since 2000. He was born in Oslo as a son of university lecturer Patrick Nigel Chaffey (1938–2006) and advisor Arnhild Mæhle (born 1945).
