Chaffee is an unincorporated community in Cass County, North Dakota, United States. History A post office was established at Chaffee in 1894, and remained in operation until 1966. The community, named for promoter Eben Chaffee, was platted in 1898 soon after the railroad was extended to that point. Herbert Fuller Chaffee (Eben's son) was a first-class passenger aboard the ''RMS Titanic RMS ''Titanic'' was a British passenger liner, operated by the White Star Line, which sank in the North Atlantic Ocean on 15 April 1912 after striking an iceberg during her maiden voyage from Southampton, England, to New York City, United ...'', with his wife Carrie Constance Toogood (1864-1931).
