Chadwick Pictures
Chadwick Pictures was an American film production and distribution company active during the silent and early sound eras. It was originally established in New York by Isaac E. Chadwick (1884 – 1952) in 1920 to release films, but from 1924 also began to produce them.Swartz p.198 In later years the company's independent films were similar to those of other small studios on Poverty Row. Following the introduction of sound, its releases were handled by Monogram Pictures. In 1933 it ceased production entirely. ''Some Pun'kins'' is a 1925 American silent comedy drama film directed by Jerome Storm and starring Charles Ray, Duane Thompson, and George Fawcett. It is also known by the alternative title of ''The Farmer's Boy''. Plot As described in a review in a film magazine, in this light rural comedy, Lem Blossom (Ray) falls in love with Mary Griggs (Thompson), already the possessor of a beau in the worldly person of Tom Perkins (Cooley). Mary's pa Josh Griggs (Woodruff), a heavy drinking father, frowns on the romance but Lem persevers. When Lem fails to sell a load of pumpkins, his father (Fawcett) in desperation turns to bootlegging. Mrs. Blossom (Midgley) and Lem smell the bottles, and Pa Blossom drives Lem away. On the way to the station Lem conceives the idea of obtaining a corner on pumpkins and puts it over to the tune of thousands of dollars. Plot The film concern about a worker struggling to make ends meet in a Jewish neighborhood in the city, his daughter, his love interest, and his daughter's prankster friend.
