Chad Fairchild
Chadwick Jarrett Fairchild (born December 30, 1970) is an American umpire in Major League Baseball. He wore number 75 until the 2014 season, when he changed to number 4 (formerly worn by Tim Tschida). He has worked in one All-Star Game (2013) and six Division Series (2011, 2012, 2015, 2018, 2021, 2022). In 2017, he worked the ALCS between the Houston Astros and New York Yankees and was the plate umpire for Game 1. Career Fairchild has worked in both major leagues since umpiring his first game on September 30, 2004. He has umpired professionally since 1997, having worked in the Gulf Coast League, New York–Penn League, South Atlantic League, Florida State League, Southern League and International League before reaching the majors. He also officiated in the 2006 World Baseball Classic. Fairchild was listed by ''The Hardball Times'' as having one of the smallest strike zones in the 2011 season. Florida State League
The Florida State League (FSL) is a Minor League Baseball league based in the state of Florida. The New York–Penn League (NYPL) was a Minor League Baseball league that operated in the northeastern United States from 1939 to 2020. Classified as a Class A Short Season league, its season started in June, after major-league teams signed their amateur draft picks to professional contracts, and ended in early September. In 2019, its last season of operation, the NYPL had 14 teams from eight different states. In addition to New York and Pennsylvania, from which the league drew its name, the NYPL also had clubs in Maryland, Massachusetts, Ohio, Vermont, West Virginia, and Connecticut. Gulf Coast League
The Florida Complex League (FCL) is a rookie-level Minor League Baseball league that operates in Florida, United States. Before 2021, it was known as the Gulf Coast League (GCL). Together with the Arizona Complex League (ACL), it forms the lowest rung on the North American minor-league ladder. FCL teams play at the minor league spring training complexes of their parent Major League Baseball (MLB) clubs and are owned by those parent clubs. Admission is not charged, and no concessions are operated at the teams' games. Every Grapefruit League team fields at least one team in the league. Timothy Joseph Tschida ( ; born May 4, 1960) is a former umpire (baseball), umpire in Major League Baseball. He joined the American League's full-time staff in 1986, and worked in both major leagues from 2000 until his retirement following the 2012 season. In baseball, the umpire is the person charged with referee, officiating the game, including beginning and ending the game, enforcing the rules of the game and the grounds, making judgment calls on plays, and handling the disciplinary actions.
