Chaco Basin
The Chaco Basin ( es, Cuenca Chaco, es, Cuenca Chaco Paranaense or es, Cuenca Chaco-Paraná) is a major sedimentary basin in Central South America around the borders of Argentina, Bolivia and Paraguay. The basin forms part of the larger Paraná Basin. Superficially, the Chaco Basin is an alluvial basin composed of land-derived (in contrast to marine sediments) material, mostly fine sand and clays of Paleogene, Neogene and Quaternary age. On deeper levels the Paraguayan Chaco is made up by four sub-basins, the Pirizal, Pilar, Carandaity and Curupaity basins. Stratigraphy The basin is part of the megaregional Paraná Basin, of which it occupies its western portion. The basin is subdivided into the Western Chaco (''Chaco Occidental'') and Eastern Chaco (''Chaco Oriental''). Chaco Culture National Historical Park
Chaco Culture National Historical Park is a United States National Historical Park in the American Southwest hosting a concentration of pueblos. The park is located in northwestern New Mexico, between Albuquerque and Farmington, in a remote canyon cut by the Chaco Wash. Containing the most sweeping collection of ancient ruins north of Mexico, the park preserves one of the most important pre-Columbian cultural and historical areas in the United States. Between AD 900 and 1150, Chaco Canyon was a major center of culture for the Ancestral Puebloans. Chacoans quarried sandstone blocks and hauled timber from great distances, assembling fifteen major complexes that remained the largest buildings ever built in North America until the 19th century. Chaco (album)
''Chaco'' is the third studio album by the Argentine duo Illya Kuryaki and the Valderramas, released in 1995 by Gigolo Productions. It was produced by Mariano Lopez Machi, former bassist of Invisible. The disc includes sixteen tracks that were mastered in New York by Ted Jensen (regular contributor to Madonna). Accompanied by Fernando Samalea (drums), Gustavo Spinetta (percussion), Gabriel Albizuri (guitar) and Fernando Nale (bass), the musicians presented the single "Abarajame". The title of the album is called under a northern Argentinian province, statistically the poorest one in that country. One of the larger species of tarantula, the Chaco golden knee (''Grammostola pulchripes''), formerly known as ''Grammostola aureostriata'', can be expected to reach between 20 and 22 cm (8.5 in). Name The former (and very commonly used) species name, ''aureostriata'', is derived from Latin ''aureus'' "golden" and ''striatus'' "striped". The currently used species name, "pulchripes," is derived from Latin "pulchra", meaning "beautiful", and "pes", meaning "foot". Chaco Department
The Paraguayan Chaco or Región Occidental (Western Region) is a semi-arid region in Paraguay, with a very low population density. The area is being rapidly deforested. Consisting of more than 60% of Paraguay's land area, but with less than 10% of the population, the Chaco is one of the most sparsely inhabited areas in South America. The surrounding Gran Chaco area is also a large geographic area that is sparsely populated. Many of those living in the region are indigenous. It covers the departments of Boquerón, Alto Paraguay and the Department of Presidente Hayes, Paraguay. The Chaco region was the scene of the longest territorial war to occur in South America; an armed conflict between Paraguay and Bolivia, lasting from 1932 to 1935. Gran Chaco is a province in the eastern parts of the Bolivian department Tarija. The province voted to become an autonomous region on 6 December 2009. Location ''Gran Chaco'' province is one of six provinces in the Tarija Department. It is located between 21° 00' and 22° 17' south and between 62° 16' and 64° 18' west. The province borders Chuquisaca Department in the north, Burnet O'Connor Province in the north-west, Aniceto Arce Province in the south-west, Argentina in the south, and Paraguay in the east.
