Chaco (album)
''Chaco'' is the third studio album by the Argentine duo Illya Kuryaki and the Valderramas, released in 1995 by Gigolo Productions. It was produced by Mariano Lopez Machi, former bassist of Invisible. The disc includes sixteen tracks that were mastered in New York by Ted Jensen (regular contributor to Madonna). Accompanied by Fernando Samalea (drums), Gustavo Spinetta (percussion), Gabriel Albizuri (guitar) and Fernando Nale (bass), the musicians presented the single "Abarajame". The title of the album is called under a northern Argentinian province, statistically the poorest one in that country. Release and reception «''The disc offers a new mind in which there is no place for discrimination or oppression, hence the name : this is a province where Indians still inhabit this land.''» (Télam, 26/10/95). Illya Kuryaki And The Valderramas
Illya Kuryaki and the Valderramas (IKV) is a musical duo formed in 1991 consisting of Dante Spinetta and Emmanuel Horvilleur, from Buenos Aires, Argentina. The duo split in 2001 to follow solo careers, but later performed together several times, and officially reunited in 2011. The duo took their name from a fictional character, the Soviet spy Illya Kuryakin in the hit 1960s TV show ''The Man from U.N.C.L.E.'', and the Colombian football player Carlos Valderrama. Their musical style is extremely wide-ranging, including hip-hop, rock, funk, and salsa. History The duo met as children as a result of the friendship between their parents. Ted Jensen (born September 19, 1954) is an American mastering engineer, known for having mastered many recordings, including the Eagles' ''Hotel California'', Green Day's '' American Idiot'' and Norah Jones' ''Come Away with Me''. Biography Ted Jensen was born to Carl and Margaret (Anning) Jensen, both of whom were musicians. Carl had studied at Yale University. Dante Spinetta (born December 9, 1976 in Buenos Aires, Argentina) is an Argentine singer/composer who is part of the duo Illya Kuryaki and the Valderramas. Biography Spinetta was born on December 9, 1976; he is the son of the musician Luis Alberto Spinetta. At the age of 14 he started recording hip hop tunes.
