Ch'p (comics)
Ch'p is a superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. He is a member of the Green Lantern Corps in the . An extraterrestrial, he resembles an anthropomorphic rodent, such as a squirrel or chipmunk. Diego Luna voiced the character in the animated film ''DC League of Super-Pets'' (2022). Publication history Ch'p first appeared in ''Green Lantern'' #148 (January 1982) and was created by writer Paul Kupperberg and artist Don Newton. Fictional character biography Ch'p's early history was recounted in ''Green Lantern Corps'' #203. A native of the planet H'lven, he participated in the defense of his homeworld from an invasion by the Crabster army of Doctor Ub'x. He was captured and sentenced to death, but one of the Guardians of the Universe came secretly to induct him into the Corps with the power ring of his predecessor, who had fallen attempting to stop the invasion. ''Green Lantern'' is an ongoing American comic-book series featuring the DC Comics heroes of the Green Lantern, same name. The character's first incarnation, Alan Scott, appeared in ''All-American Comics'' #16 (July 1940), and was later spun off into the first volume of ''Green Lantern'' in 1941. After 38 issues, that series was cancelled in 1949. When the Silver Age Green Lantern, Hal Jordan, was introduced, the character starred in a new volume of ''Green Lantern'' starting in 1960. Although ''Green Lantern'' is considered a mainstay in the DC Comics stable, the series has been cancelled and rebooted several times. The first series featuring Hal Jordan was cancelled at issue #224, but was restarted with a third volume and a new #1 issue in June 1990. Parallax is a supervillain appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. Publication history Created by writer Ron Marz and artist Darryl Banks for ''Green Lantern'' vol. 3 #48 (January 1994), Parallax was originally devised as the new supervillain identity for then-former Green Lantern protagonist Hal Jordan. After further changes for the Hal Jordan character over the subsequent years (sacrificing his life in order to reignite Earth's Sun in the 1996 crossover storyline "The Final Night", and Jordan's soul subsequently becoming the newest host of the Spectre in the 1999 miniseries ''Day of Judgment''), 2004's '' Green Lantern: Rebirth'' once again cast Jordan as a heroic Green Lantern and explained Parallax as an ancient entity embodying the yellow light of fear which possessed Jordan and drove him to his villainous actions.
