Ahmed Cevdet Pasha or Jevdet Pasha in English (22 March 1822 – 25 May 1895) was an Ottoman scholar, intellectual, bureaucrat, administrator, and historian who was a prominent figure in the Tanzimat reforms of the Ottoman Empire. Abdullah Cevdet ( ota, عبدالله جودت; tr, Abdullah Cevdet Karlıdağ; 9 September 1869 – 29 November 1932) was a Kurdish intellectual and physician in the Ottoman Empire. He was one of the founders of the Committee of Union and Progress (CUP) and wrote articles with pen name of "Bir Kürd" ("A Kurd") for the publications such as '' Meşveret'', ''Kurdistan'' and '' Roji Kurd'' about Kurdish awakening and nationalism. Melih Cevdet Anday (13 March 1915 – 28 November 2002) was a Turkish writer whose poetry stands outside the traditional literary movements. He also wrote in many other genres which, over six and a half decades, included eleven collections of poems, eight plays, eight novels, fifteen collections of essays, several of which won major literary awards. He also translated several books from diverse languages into Turkish. Biography Melih Cevdet Anday was born in Istanbul in 1915 and lived there until his parents moved to Ankara in 1931. Ahmet Cevdet Oran (mostly known as Ahmet Cevdet; 1862–27 May 1935) was a Turkish journalist who founded an influential newspaper, ''İkdam'' which was in circulation between 1894 and 1928. He was one of the early Turkish journalists who employed pure Turkish instead of Ottoman Turkish in his writings. Biography Ahmet Cevdet was born in Istanbul in 1862. Cevdet Yılmaz (born 1 April 1967) is a Turkish politician who served as a Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey in the interim election government formed by Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu from 28 August to 17 November 2015. Cevdet Sunay (; 10 February 1899 – 22 May 1982) was a Turkish politician and army officer, who served as the fifth President of Turkey from 1966 to 1973. Early life and career Sunay was born in 1899 in Trabzon, in the Ottoman Empire. After attending elementary school and middle school in Erzurum and Edirne, he graduated from Kuleli Military High School in Istanbul. During World War I, he fought in 1917 at the Palestine front and became a prisoner of war of the British in Egypt in 1918. After his release, he fought first on the southern front, then on the western front during the Turkish War of Independence. Cevdet Kerim İncedayı (1893 – 19 May 1951) was an Ottoman-born Turkish army officer, politician and author. Biography Born in 1893 in Sinop, he studied at the Gülhane Military Medical Academy and graduated in 1914. He was sent to the Caucasus front during World War I. After the war, he joined the Turkish nationalist movement in Ankara and took part in the Greco-Turkish War as part of the 7th Division. After the war, he retired from the army at the rank of Major and started a career in politics shortly after. He was elected a member of the Grand National Assembly in 1935, from Sinop, and would serve for 16 years until his death in 1951. In November 1940, he became the 2nd Minister of Transport and held that office until November 1941. 5 years later, in August 1946, he served as the Minister of Public Works until September 1947.
