Cessnock City Hornets FC is a semi-professional soccer club based in Cessnock, New South Wales. The Hornets currently compete in the Northern NSW State League Division 1 with teams in First Grade, Reserve Grade, Under 18, Under 16, Under 15, Under 14 and Under 13 divisions. Northern NSW State League Division 1 is the 2nd tier of Football in Northern New South Wales Football below the National Premier Leagues Northern NSW. Cliff Almond (soccer)
Cliff Almond was a former Australian professional soccer player who played as a forward. He was an international player for the Australia national soccer team. His 24-year career included three spells at Cessnock, a brief stint at North Shore and played with Scottish club Stirling Albion playing eight league games. He reportedly played 464 games at club level, with more than 400 appearances at Cessnock. Early life Cliff Almond was born in 1930. Growing up, he was a local colliery clerk until he changed to playing soccer. Club career 1946–54: Cessnock and North Shore stint Almond progressed from the Aberdare Rangers youth team in 1946, where he signed for Cessnock as a right winger. Clayton Zane
Clayton Zane (born 12 July 1977) is an Australian association football coach and former player, who played as a striker. In the 2001 season, he was the top scorer and awarded the Kniksen award as Striker of the Year in Norway. He earned 14 caps for the Australia national team, scoring six goals. His last club as a player was R.S.C. Anderlecht, where a two-year-long injury prematurely ended his career in late 2005. Following his retirement from playing Zane worked as a coach at Newcastle Jets, serving as a head coach in 2014.
